An above-the-ground pool construction having a catastrophic failure-proof wall of comparatively low weight which is fabricated from a laminate of polypropylene and a woven polypropylene mesh reinforcement. The new wall is stronger and safer than existing walls; it is lighter weight; and it provides ease of pool wall decoration through the use of woven designs in the reinforcing mesh or by printing the mesh before it is laminated.

Disclosed herein is a new and improved pole-branch holder sub-assembly for use in the construction of artificial Christmas trees. Specifically, the new pole-branch holder comprises an elongated cylindrical tubular member having selectively rotatable branch holder elements assembled therewith at predetermined elevations. The branch holders themselves are advantageously formed of high impact injection molded plastic and comprise sleeves, adapted to telescope the pole in close fitting relation thereto, having a plurality of integral uniformly spaced bosses with vertical bores therein, each of which bores are associated with cantilevered support channels extending radially outwardly from the bosses. The new pole branch holder sub-assembly enables an artificial Christmas tree to be assembled rapidly by user merely by dropping the pre-formed bent ends of conventional twisted wire branches into the well-defined, multi-axis support established by the combination of the vertical bore and intersecting channel. Ease of assembly is enhanced by appropriately coding the inner bent ends of the branches for each elevation of the tree with the branch holder located at that elevation.

A super stable, simply assembleable tree stand is provided for artificial Christmas trees and the like, which stand provides increased stability in relation to the load applied. The stand includes a central, disc-shaped hub portion which interlocks vertically and horizontally with a plurality of radiating, tapered legs, with the component parts so configured that, when interlocked, they cannot be separated under load, or loosen or 'wobble' with respect to each other. The component parts are comprised of substantially rigid thermoplastic resin material with a slight degree of resiliency, such as high impact polystyrene, so as to provide a gripping action between the parts when they are joined. The legs are connected to the hub portion with a tongue and groove arrangement connectable from the bottom of the stand upwardly, so that applied loads from above serve to urge the tongue and groove joints into a fully seated and totally stable condition.

Disclosed herein is an improved slide toy of the type comprising a reciprocatable element which cyclically traverses a straight path defined by a pair of flexible cords passing through the slide element. More specifically, the invention herein is directed to an improved handle construction to which each of the beforementioned cords is secured and an improved line guide means disposed at opposite ends of the slide element and including spaced orifices through which the orifices are threaded.

A wading pool, sandbox or like thermoformed structure is provided with an integral slide, hollow handrail, and steps molded into the structure. The structure is configured to provide the slide and a slide mounting platform, disposed above the top of the side walls of the structure, with sufficient strength and rigidity in combination to require only a single, simplified, inverted U-shaped, tubular support under the slide mounting platform adjacent and within the hollow peripheral edge of the structure, to stabilize and to support the slide mounting platform. With such an arrangement, assembly is simplified and the container may be easily folded after assembly for transport without dismantling.

A knock-down artificial Christmas tree is provided utilizing a plurality of branch-retaining rings or holders for connecting the branches to the vertical support pole of the tree, alternating with spacers between those rings. The retaining rings and the spacers are comprised of, advantageously, molded thermoplastic, and the spacers are textured on the outer surfaces thereof to simulate the trunk of a tree, thus negating the necessity to wrap or hide, or otherwise mask an unsightly supporting pole for the tree. The branch-retaining rings, together with the alternating spacers, upon assembly of the tree, serve to place the branch-retaining rings and their associated branches in preselected, spaced fashsion along the trunk, to provide rapid assembly and disassembly of the tree. To impart a natural appearance, the branch-retaining rings are configured to accommodate differing numbers of branches in different areas of the tree. Moreover, the rings include means for holding the individual branches against rotation around their own axes or movement from their desired orientation. The positioning system herein provides for an 'automatic' correct vertical spacing of the branches along the trunk, while the branch-retaining rings allow for correcting the circumferential or radial orientation of the branches around the tree.
