Disclosed herein is a rotating packed bed, RPB, arrangement configured to provide mass transfer between a liquid sorbent and a gas, the RPB arrangement comprising: an RPB configured to provide a substantial cross-flow between a liquid sorbent and a gas; and a spray arranged to spray the liquid sorbent onto the RPB; wherein the RPB and spray are both arranged at different longitudinal positions on a gas flow path through the RPB arrangement.

Rotating packed bed arrangements

Disclosed herein is a method of regenerating a sorbent of gas in a capture process of said gas, wherein the capture process comprises recirculating the sorbent between a gas capturing system and regenerating reactor system, the method comprising the regenerating reactor system performing the steps of: receiving a solid sorbent to be regenerated, wherein the sorbent is a sorbent of carbon dioxide gas; generating heat by combusting a fuel with an oxidising agent in the presence of a catalyst; regenerating the sorbent by using the generated heat to indirectly heat the sorbent so that the sorbent releases carbon dioxide gas; outputting the regenerated sorbent; and outputting the released carbon dioxide gas. Advantages of the gas capture system include a higher efficiency than known techniques.

Gas capture system

Disclosed herein is a rotating packed bed, RPB, for mass transfer between a sorbent and a gas, the RPB comprising: a central chamber arranged to receive a flow of a sorbent that is a liquid; and a flow path for the sorbent between the central chamber and a region for mass transfer between a gas and the sorbent; wherein, in use, the flow of sorbent through the region for mass transfer is substantially in cross-flow with the flow of gas through the region for mass transfer. Advantageously, mass transfer between a liquid sorbent and a gas is improved.

Disclosed herein is a gas capture system that includes a gas inlet arranged to receive a gas flow into the system; a gas outlet arranged to provide a gas flow out of the system; a gas capture region for mass transfer between a gas and a sorbent of the gas; and a sorbent regeneration region for regenerating the sorbent by heating the sorbent so that the sorbent releases a gas.

Mass transfer systems

The present invention relates to a system for desorption of acid gas () from an acid gas rich absorption liquid having a steam part () and a process part (). The steam part () and the process part () are separated to prevent intermixing of fluids in the steam part with fluids in the process part. The system () comprises a desorption cylinder () which is adapted to rotate about a longitudinal axis of rotation A of the desorption cylinder (), and a stationary support stand () for supporting the desorption cylinder (), and means for rotating () the desorption cylinder. The steam part () and the process part () are integrated in the desorption cylinder () and steam is supplied to the steam part () and acid gas rich absorption liquid () is supplied to the process part (). The process part () comprises a desorption chamber () provided with a stripper unit () having an integrated reboiler () and the process part () is provided with means for discharging an acid gas lean absorption fluid () and having means for removing acid gas rich vapor (), and the steam part () is provided with means for discharging condensate (). The present invention also relates to a method for desorption of acid gas from an acid gas rich absorption liquid.

System and method for desorption of acid gas from an absorption liquid

Disclosed herein is a bellow for use in a ball valve, the bellow comprising: a metallic seat at an end of the bellow for providing a contact surface with a ball of a ball valve; and a metallic body integral with the seat; wherein the metallic body has a longitudinally elastic property such that, when the bellow is in use in a ball valve and the bellow is arranged within the housing of the ball valve so that it is always under longitudinal compression, substantially only the compression in the bellow causes the seat to apply a sealing force against the ball of the ball valve that maintains a mechanical seal between the seat and the ball valve. Advantageously, embodiments allow a new design of ball valve that maintains a high standard of performance in subsea environments over long time periods.

The invention relates to a continuous process for removal of acid gas, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) from a fluid stream, such as natural gas comprising mainly hydrocarbons, by means of a absorbent medium in a rotating absorption zone. Subsequently, the acid gas is desorbed in a rotating desorption zone from the absorbent medium to allow the absorbent medium to be recirculated and the acid gas is removed for storage or drying and processing. This process can be carried out continuously, as the absorption medium is re-used.

Method and absorber for removal of acid gas from natural gas

A process and means for drying sticky or gluey materials uses an arrangement of rotor arms that are adjusted so that feed materials are rapidly mixed into the bed material. The moisture content of the bed material is kept below the moisture limit of the glue zone.

Process and means for drying of sticky materials

The process separates oil and water from a sludge mixture by directing the sludge mixture into a rapidly rotating friction dryer having a cylindrical chamber with a smooth inner surface and a rotating rotor having rotor arms extending into closely spaced relation to the inner surface of the chamber. The rotor is rapidly rotated to form an annular bed of the sludge material while moving the material particles in the mixture axially and tangentially and while frictionally generating heat between the rotor arms and the sludge material sufficient to evaporate the water in the sludge material to steam. At the same time, the oil in the mixture is heated by the steam and evaporated at a temperature below the normal atmospheric boiling point of the oil. Thereafter, the separated evaporated oil and the steam are removed from the chamber.
