An engine shut down apparatus of an internal combustion engine having a magneto type ignition system comprises a magneto generator, a power source circuit, an engine stop switch, a fuel cut drive circuit, a fuel cut-off solenoid valve, an engine stop circuit and a fuel cut-off/ignition stop circuit. When the engine stop switch is turned on, in the fuel cut-off/ignition stop circuit, an engine stop instruction signal is sent to the fuel cut-off drive circuit and then the fuel cut-off solenoid valve is operated so as to close the fuel supply to the engine. On the other hand, in the fuel cut-off/ignition stop circuit, the engine stop instruction signal is sent to the engine stop circuit after a specified time has elapsed so as to operate the engine stop circuit with a time lag. Then, the engine stop circuit short-circuits the ignition system so as to stop ignition. Further, the fuel cut-off/ignition stop circuit is electrically separated with respect to electric noises from the ignition system. Thus, the engine shut down apparatus enables the engine to stop smoothly and securely without causing running-on or after-burning under any operating condition.

Engine shut down apparatus

A warning system for warning a lack of a working fluid for an engine. The engine is provided with an ignition unit supplied with an ignition power supply from a magneto. A sensing unit senses the lack of the working fluid and produces a detection signal. A warning element, connected to the magneto, receives a power supply to give a warning indicating the lack of the working fluid. A controller is responsive to the detection signal from the sensing unit for actuating the warning element to provide the warning without deteriorating a performance of the ignition unit.

Warning system for an engine

An engine shut-down device is shown for an engine, having a magneto for generating an a.c. voltage in response to a speed of the engine, an ignition coil provided to ignite the engine, a driver responsive to the a.c. voltage for driving the ignition coil, and generator for generating an engine-stop signal. The device includes a trigger responsive to the engine-stop signal for flowing a forward current from magneto to a ground when the magneto produces a positive value of the a.c. voltage and a backward current for a predetermined period of time from the ground to the magneto when the magneto produces a negative value of the a.c. voltage, an engine-stop section responsive to the backward current for flowing a short-circuit current from ground to the magneto to disoperate the ignition coil, so as to stop the engine.

Engine shut-down device

An engine shut-down control device comprises a shut-down controller for outputting an engine shut-down signal in dependency on a rotation signal generated by an engine rotation when a key switch is turned off and for maintaining self-hold operation until the rotation signal stops, and a start controller for non-electrifying a starter while the rotation signal is output regardless of the position of the key switch. When the key switch is turned off, the shut-down controller automatically holds the device by outputting the engine shut-down signal in dependency on the rotation signal generated from the engine rotation. Namely, the engine shut-down signal is output until the engine completely stops and output of the rotation signal is stopped.

An oil level sensor has a cylindrical hollow sensor body and an elongated inner electrode provided in the sensor body at a distance from the inner wall of the sensor body. The sensor body is made of conductive resin including carbon particles. The sensor body is electrically connected to the elongated inner electrode and to a control unit for indicating a shortage of the fluid. The control unit is a shielded wire comprising a lead wire connected with the elongated inner electrode and a wire shield connected with the cylindrical hollow sensor body. The elongated inner electrode has a flange at a base portion thereof so as to be firmly secured in the inner electrode guide and an insulator sleeve plugged into the cylindrical hollow sensor body, whereby the flange is held between the inner electrode guide and the insulator sleeve.

Oil level sensor for an internal combustion engine

An apparatus is disclosed for warning of the abnormality of an engine including a magneto generating an a.c. voltage and an ignition coil which includes a first signal generation section for generating a first signal including an electric quantity corresponding to the insulation resistance of lubricating oil, a temperature detecting section for producing temperature signal, a reference signal generation section for generating a reference signal in response to the temperature signal, an oil-shortage judging section for comparing the first signal and the reference signal to determine that the engine has a shortage of oil when the first signal is larger than the reference signal and generating a shortage signal, a control section for performing a short-circuit of a primary side of the ignition coil to produce a short-circuit current in response to the shortage signal and an oil-shortage display section for displaying the warning of the shortage of oil in response to the short-circuit current.

Apparatus for warning of engine oil abnormality

An oil level sensor has a cylindrical hollow sensor body and an elongated inner electrode provided in the sensor body at a distance from the inner wall of the sensor body. The sensor body and the inner electrode are made of conductive resin including carbon particles. An oil level detector circuit is provided in the sensor body.

A safety system against engine overturning contains an inclination sensor for detecting an engine inclination and transmitting a signal representing the engine inclination and a self-hold device operatively connected to the inclination sensor. The self-hold device determines an inclined condition of the engine in response to the signal from the inclination sensor and transmits and holds an engine stopping signal in a case where the detected engine inclination exceeds a preliminarily set allowable inclination. The operation of the engine is stopped in response to the engine stopping signal from the self-hold device. The driving condition of the engine and a fuel pump are determined and controlled by driving condition determining device serving to drive the fuel pump when an engine speed exceeds a preliminarily set reference value while to stop the fuel pump when the engine stopping signal is transmitted from the self-hold device.

Safety system for engine overturning

A system for detecting load has a first detector for detecting load on a generator based on the voltage in a circuit of an armature of the generator, and a second detector for detecting the load on the generator based on the voltage in a circuit inductively coupled to the armature circuit. An output of the first detector is compared with a first reference value by a first comparator and a first overload signal is produced when exceeding the first reference value. A second comparator is provided for producing a second overload signal when exceeding a second reference value. In response to the first and second overload signals alarm lamps are turned on for providing an alarm of the overload.

Load detecting system for an engine driven generator

A system is provided for generating an alarm when the fuel surface level of an engine driven generator becomes smaller than a predetermined value, and stopping the engine after a predetermined time lapse from generating the alarm. Fuel shortage is detected by a fuel caution unit to cause an alarm unit to operate and further cause an engine stop unit to operate. The fuel caution unit causes the engine stop unit to stop after a short time lapse if the engine is restarted after the detection of fuel shortage. The system further includes an oil caution unit, overload caution unit, battery caution unit and power monitor accessories unit.
