In control apparatus and method for a power supply equipped in an automotive vehicle, the vehicle includes an engine, a starter to start the engine, a battery to reserve the electrical power supplied to the starter, and a generator driven by means of the engine to generate the electrical power to charge the battery, a terminal voltage of the battery is detected in a form of a battery voltage, a charge current flowing into the battery by means of the generator is detected, and a degree of deterioration of the battery is determined on the basis of at least one of the battery voltage detected after the power supply is turned on and before a start of operation of the generator and the charge current detected after the start of operation of the generator.

Control apparatus and method for vehicle equipped power supply having battery deterioration diagnostic feature

In a generator control apparatus for a vehicle, the control apparatus includes an engine; an intake air temperature sensing section configured to sense a temperature of intake air of the engine; an engine startup temperature-state determining section configured to determine whether the engine is in warm-up state, at the time of startup of the engine; a battery; a battery liquid temperature estimating section configured to estimate a liquid temperature of the battery; a battery liquid temperature storing section configured to store the battery liquid temperature estimated by the battery liquid temperature estimating section; and a generator configured to charge the battery in accordance with the estimated battery liquid temperature. Moreover, in this control apparatus, the battery liquid temperature estimating section is configured to estimate, at the time of engine startup in warm-up state, the battery liquid temperature to be the lower one of the sensed intake air temperature and a battery liquid temperature previously stored by the battery liquid temperature storing section, by comparing the sensed intake air temperature with the previously stored battery liquid temperature.

Generator control apparatus and method for automotive vehicle

A vehicle is provided including a high-voltage battery for a motor/generator power source, a low-voltage battery for electrical loads, an inverter for controlling the motor/generator, sensors which detect a condition of the high-voltage battery, a rotation speed of the engine, a vehicle speed, and a depression of an accelerator pedal, and a microprocessor. The microprocessor is programmed to compute a state of charge (SOC) of the high-voltage battery, compute a degree of deterioration of the high-voltage battery, control a current generated by the motor/generator so that the SOC of the high-voltage battery coincides with a target SOC, vary the target SOC according to the degree of deterioration of the high-voltage battery, determine whether or not the vehicle is decelerating, and set the target SOC to the low target SOC when the vehicle is not decelerating and to the high target SOC when the vehicle is decelerating.

Control device for hybrid vehicle

When a vehicle is decelerating a controller of a motor-generator ( ) computes a target charging current according to a charge state of a high voltage battery by a target charging current computing unit ( ), and limits this current by a first limiter ( ) having a limiter value. An electrical load current supplied to vehicle-mounted electrical loads is computed by an electrical load current detecting unit ( ). A target generation current produced by the motor-generator ( ) is computed by adding the target charging current and electrical load current, by a target generation current detecting unit ( ). This computed value is limited by a second limiter ( ) having a limiter value which varies according to an engine rotation speed, ON/OFF state of an air-conditioner and speed ratio. When the vehicle is decelerating the motor-generator ( ) is made to function as a generator driven by recovery energy, the high voltage battery and a low voltage battery for the vehicle-mounted electrical loads are charged without overcharging and excessive vehicle deceleration is prevented.
