Computer-implemented methods and systems of estimating wait times and food serving times at a restaurant using wearable devices include identifying from portions of sensor data that a user is seated at a restaurant table at an estimated sitting time. In addition, portions of sensor data can be used to identify that a user has started eating at a given restaurant. Time-correlated location data can be used to determine an estimated arrival time of the user at a current location. An estimated wait time can be determined from the difference between the estimated sitting time and the estimated arrival time. An estimated food serving time can be determined from the difference between estimated eating time and arrival time or eating time and sitting time. Data indicative of the estimated times can be communicated to other computing devices, evaluated across multiple users, and/or used to develop relevant notifications for surfacing to other users.

Systems and methods of automatically estimating restaurant wait times using wearable devices

Methods and apparatus related to providing user-guided term suggestions. Some implementations may be directed to identifying user input that includes at least one term and identifying a user-initiated activity near the term. An edit term may be identified based on the user-initiated activity near the term, an edit position in the edit term may be identified, and one or more candidate terms may be identified based on the edit term. Similarity measures for the candidate terms may be determined. The similarity measure of a given candidate term of the candidate terms may be based on the edit position. One or more of the candidate terms may be selected as suggested terms based on the similarity measures and the selected suggested terms provided for potential replacement of the edit term.

User-guided term suggestions

In one embodiment, a computing system may operate within a local area network. The computing system may include a network interface configured to receive a set of content items from a content server located remotely from the computing system and the local area network, a storage element for storing the set of content items, and a processor. The processor may be configured to determine first data relating to people, objects, or some combination thereof, select at least one content item from the set of content items based at least in part on the first data relating to people, objects, or some combination thereof without communicating the first data to the content server or any other computing device outside of the local area network, and communicate the selected at least one content item to a user of the computing system.

Privacy-aware personalized content for the smart home

Techniques for summarizing media are described. A viewer-interaction analyzer receives a media file containing media, the media file including a plurality of segments. A segment of the media file is scored based on interactions of a set of raters. Viewer metrics on the segment of the media file are measured based on interactions with the segment of the media file by a set of viewers. A set of feature vectors are formed based on the measured viewer interactions, where feature vectors in the set of feature vectors are based on interactions of the set of viewers. A model is trained based on the set of feature vectors and the score assigned to the segment of the media file. The model is applied to segments of the media file to generate an interest rating for segments of the media file. An edited media file is generated based on segments of the media file having interest ratings that meet a criterion. Media Summarization

In general, this disclosure is directed to techniques for generating, by a computing device, at approximately a time that a user is eating, at least one computer-generated indication. Based at least in part on the at least one computer-generated indication and pre-defined activity data that are indicative of a human consuming an ingestible substance, the computing device determines whether the user is currently consuming an ingestible substance. Responsive to determining that the user is currently consuming the ingestible substance, the computing device outputs a reminder to consume at least one particular ingestible substance, such as a medication.

A system, computer-implemented method and non-transitory computer-readable medium for automatically searching for images from events is provided. One or more personal identity tags are provided, wherein the personal identity tags relate to identification information for one or more individuals. Next, at least one event group is identified, wherein the event group is a collection of images associated with an event, the collection of images including one or more images tagged with one or more of the provided personal identity tags. A collection of the images for each of the identified event groups is then received.

Media summarization

A system and method for searching images and identifying images with similar facial features is disclosed. In one implementation, the system includes a pre-processing module, a feature extraction module, a model creation module, a similarity identifier module and a results display module. The pre-processing module receives a facial image, determines key-points associated with a facial feature and identifies a facial area including the facial feature. The feature extraction module extracts the key-points. The model creation module creates a similarity model for determining similar facial features at least in part by comparing the facial feature from a plurality of images. The similarity identifier module applies the similarity model to the facial feature an image in relation to the facial feature in other images and determines which other image has a most similar facial feature. The results display module presents a result based at least in part on the determination.

Searching images and identifying images with similar facial features

A device is configured to receive a translation query that requests a translation of terms from a source language to a target language; determine translation features associated with the translation query; assign a feature value to each of the translation features to form feature values; apply a feature weight to each of the feature values to generate a final value; and determine whether to provide a dialog translation user interface or a non-dialog translation user interface based on whether the final value satisfies a threshold. The dialog translation user interface may facilitate translation of a conversation, the non-dialog translation user interface may provide translation search results, and the non-dialog translation user interface may be different than the dialog translation user interface. The device also configured to provide the dialog translation user interface for display when the final value satisfies the threshold.

Automatic invocation of a dialog user interface for translation applications

Systems and methods for media aggregation are disclosed herein. The system includes a media system that can transform user generated media items into at least one aggregated media item. A synchronization component can synchronize media items with respect to time. Synchronized media items can be analyzed and transformed into an aggregated media item for storage and/or display. In addition, the aggregated media item is capable of being manipulated to create an enhanced and customizable viewing and/or listening experience. Accordingly, media item aggregation can be accomplished.

Automated aggregation of related media content

Embodiments generally relate to sharing photos in a social network system. In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining a plurality of photos associated with a target user in a social network system, and detecting a face of one or more persons in the plurality of photos. The method also includes computing significance values for the faces, where each significance value indicates a degree of significance between the target user and each person represented by each face. The method also includes generating a significance ranking of the significance values, and determining a group of photos for the target user based on the significance ranking.

Sharing photos in a social network system

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for retrieving images based on a seasonal time period. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a query including image data defining an image depicting a subject. A location at which the image was captured by an image capturing device is determined. One or more additional images of the subject that were captured by an image capturing device at the identified location are identified. At least a portion of the additional images are provided in response to receiving the query.

In one aspect, a method for automatically adjusting temporal creation data for a plurality of images is disclosed. The method may generally include receiving a plurality of image files associated with the plurality of images, wherein each of the plurality of image files includes an initial creation time. In addition, the method may include determining a baseline creation time by analyzing the plurality of image files based on their association with at least one of daytime hours or nighttime hours and adjusting the initial creation time for at least one of the plurality of image files based on the baseline creation time.

Systems and methods for automatically adjusting the temporal creation data associated with image files

A system and method for suggesting alternative travel destinations is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method may generally include receiving, at a computing device, a query from a client device associated with a requested travel destination. The requested travel destination may be at a first geographic location. The method may also include analyzing travel pattern data for at least one user that previously requested travel directions to the requested travel destination to identify at least one second geographic location that is associated with the requested travel destination. The travel pattern data may include information associated with a location of the at least one user after requesting the travel directions. In addition, the method may include transmitting to the client device a suggestion for at least one alternative travel destination based on the at least one second geographic location.
