A multi-tenant application that provides high speed data services to one or more subscriber devices. The multi-tenant application comprises one or more first servers that each perform packet switching and routing and one or more second servers that each perform FCAPS functions for the one or more subscriber devices. FCAPS functions comprise fault operations, configuration operations, accounting operations, performance operations, and security operations. Each of the one or more first and second servers are implemented entirely within an application-specific logical host composed of one or more application containers. The one or more second servers may optionally each further perform network functions and user plane functions for the one or more subscriber devices. The one or more second servers may optionally each further perform OLT control functions and OLT MAC/PHY functions for the one or more subscriber devices.

Virtual access hub

A virtualized Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) that provides high speed data services to one or more remote physical devices (RPDs). The CMTS comprises one or more first servers that each perform packet switching and routing as well as one or more second servers that each perform CMTS functions for the one or more remote physical devices (RPDs). Each of the one or more first servers and each of the one or more second servers are each implemented entirely on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. Further, the CMTS functions comprise telemetry, displaying and supporting a dashboard that depicts historical events that occurred or ongoing events presently occurring at the virtualized CMTS, dynamic instantiation and deinstantiation of virtual machines in which software processes implementing the CMTS functions execute in proportion to demand at the virtual CMTS, logging, and analytics.

Virtual cable hub

Automated video digest system and method. The system decomposes video and audio portions of video media into low-level descriptors, producing a large number of such descriptors for each video image and scene. These descriptors are optimized to be both compatible with rapid automated descriptor creation, and also to have some positive or negative statistical correlation with the viewing preferences of typical human viewers. By comparing the number of descriptors correlated with positive human viewing preferences, versus the number of descriptors correlated with negative human viewing preferences, the automated system may analyze an unknown video program and make educated guesses as to which portions of the program are likely to be most interesting to the viewer on playback. Less interesting portions may be skipped or fast-forwarded though. The method may also be optimized to individual viewers. Such methods are useful for controlling the playback of digital video recorders and other systems.

Method and apparatus for video digest generation

The present invention is a video digest which extracts only the relevant information out of the video content according to user preferences. Video digest generator is a combination of hardware and software constituting a component of the digital video recorder, which analyzes the content and extracts only the portions which are meaningful or important for the user.
