PDN and PDU session type mapping and capability discovery

In an example aspect, a method performed by wireless device for communication establishment is provided. The method comprises, in response to a request for establishment of a communication with the wireless device using a first network, receiving a redirection instruction to redirect to a second network, and in response to whether a node in the second network supports communication with a node in the first network, selecting a first procedure or a second procedure for establishing the communication using the second network.

Disclosed is a method and access management entity for selecting a session management (SM) entity for serving a wireless communication device (WCD) in a core network that comprises an access management entity serving the WCD and an anchor SM entity that controls a first user plane entity that handles a data session associated with the WCD in a first domain, and a second SM entity for controlling a second user plane entity in a second domain of the core network. The method is performed by the access management entity and comprises selecting&#x2014;based on WCD information and SM domain information&#x2014;the second SM entity as an additional intermediate SM entity to control a user plane entity in the second domain for handling the data session in the second domain; requesting the second SM entity to act as the additional intermediate SM; and receiving a session response message.

Methods and apparatuses for selecting a session management entity for serving a wireless communication device

Access and Mobility Management Function, AMF, adapted for taking part in handover from a 5G system, 5GS, to an Evolved Packet System, EPS, an interface being provided between a Mobility Management Entity, MME, of the EPS and the AMF. The AMF being adapted for signalling with a Session Management Function and Packet Data Network, PDN, Gateway-Control plane, SMF and PGW-C, entity, the AMF being adapted for&#x2014;providing a request (-) to the SMF and PGW-C entity to provide a Session Management, SM, Context that also includes mapped EPS, Bearer Contexts (); &#x2014;wherein for PDU Sessions with PDU Session type Ethernet or Unstructured, providing () a capability of a target MME of supporting a Non-IP PDN type to the PGW-C and SMF entity in the request (-) to allow the PGW-C and SMF entity to determine whether or not to include an EPS Bearer context for non-IP PDN type; &#x2014;transmitting the request (-) to the SMF.

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a first node () for handling Quality of Service, QoS, information. The first node () receives information for a 5G QoS flow from a second node (). The information comprises 5G or 4G QoS information, or both 5G and 4G QoS information, or priority information. The first node () determines whether there are any available 4G bearer IDs. When there are no available 4G bearer IDs, the first node () determines an action for handling the information.

Method and node for handling QoS information

A method for default bearer translation with GBR bearer translation. A GBR bearer is known in UE, 5G-RAN, and SMFs from the existing QoS flow parameters from one or more QoS flows for a PDU session that includes an assigned value for guaranteed bit rate. In case a PDU session has multiple associated QoS flows that each include an assigned value for GBR, then each flow is determined as a candidate GBR bearer for the target E-UTRAN access. Each GBR bearer candidate is arranged in a priority order based on, for example, the QoS flow parameters (e.g., ARP), and the resulting EPS QCI when translating QoS flow parameters in 5G to a 4G representation. Hence common priority rules for 1:1 mapping between 5G representation and 4G representation can be used by the nodes having knowledge of the PDU session and the QoS flows characterized as GBR QoS flows.

Bearer translation

Handling a plurality of Presence Reporting Areas, PRAs, may currently present inconsistencies between the PRAs active in a policy controller and those PRAs active in a network node handling UE mobility, e.g. MME/SGSN. To overcome these and other drawbacks, there are provided enhanced policy controller, network node and method of handling a plurality of PRAs. This method comprises selecting, at the policy controller, a plurality of applicable PRAs; transmitting from the policy controller, and receiving at the network node, the plurality of applicable PRAs; selecting, at the network node from the plurality of applicable PRAs, a number of PRAs to be active at the network node; and transmitting from the network node, and receiving at the policy controller, at least one of: an indication on whether a UE is inside or outside a PRA, and an indication on whether a PRA is or is not accepted to be active by the network node.

Apparatuses and methods for multiple presence reporting areas

For enabling differentiated handling of mobile network data traffic between a UE () and a network resource, a network address lookup procedure is adapted on the basis of mobile access information related to a connection between the UE () and a mobile network. The mobile access information may be obtained from authentication traffic () in the mobile network and be provided to a node () performing the adaptation by modifying a message () of the lookup procedure. On the basis of the mobile access information, the adaptation may cause the lookup procedure to return a network address of a replacement network resource capable of handling the data traffic. The network address of the replacement network resource () matches a packet filter for directing the data traffic to a bearer established between the UE () and the mobile network.
