The UE performs a second random access procedure successfully with the second target device in the second network during the time interval (). The UE transmits or receives from the target device in the second network before the UE finishes performing the first random access procedure with the first target device in the first network ().

Parallel handover and failure handling

A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling for communications in a wireless communications system. The control signaling may indicate a first duration for an inactivity timer. The UE may initiate the inactivity timer and a second timer based on identifying a period of inactivity. The second timer may have a second duration that is shorter than the first duration for the inactivity timer. In some examples, the second duration may be based on one or more parameters, such as a display status, a battery status, a scaling factor, the first duration, an application state, or any combination thereof. The UE may release a connection for the communications in the wireless communications system based on an expiration of the second timer, an expiration of the inactivity timer, or a combination thereof.

Enhanced connection release techniques for wireless communications systems

A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a UE capability message associated with a number of downlink multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) layers supported at the UE. The UE may receive a configuration for a set of downlink MIMO layers including a first subset of downlink MIMO layers configured for a first cell and a second subset of downlink MIMO layers configured for a second cell. The UE may allocate a first set of resources to the first cell or the second cell, or both, based on the first and the second subset of downlink MIMO layers. The UE may determine a second set of resources are unallocated to the set of downlink MIMO layers and allocate the second set of resources to the first cell or the second cell, or both.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for optimizing procedures to update a UE radio capability ID (URCID) when a UE moves to a new Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) within a registration area. An example method performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes receiving at least one URCID assigned by a first PLMN; and taking one or more actions to delay or avoid updating the URCID when moving to a second PLMN in a same registration area as the first PLMN.

The UE may input UE history data or crowdsourced data (e.g., from a local network or a cloud-based server) into the ML model to generate a predicted gain state which may be more likely to result in a successful initial acquisition (e.g., without reattempting the initial acquisition procedure). The UE may use the initial gain state generated by the ML model to attempt an initial acquisition procedure with a network entity.

Efficient initial acquisition with gain state prediction using machine learning

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a receiving device, such as a user equipment (UE), may reduce packet congestion associated with communications between the receiving device and a transmitting device, such as a server, via a radio access network (RAN). The receiving device may measure congestion metrics associated with receiving data packets from the transmitting device via the RAN. The congestion metrics may include RAN congestion metrics and transport or application layer congestion metrics associated with the network connection between the receiving device and the transmitting device. The receiving device may estimate packet congestion at the receiving device according to the measured congestion metrics. The receiving device may modify connection parameters of the network connection based on the estimated packet congestion. The receiving device may communicate with the transmitting device over the network connection in accordance with the modified connection parameters.

Downlink congestion control optimization

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method may include a user equipment (UE) generating a set of multimedia packets including a first multimedia packet and a second multimedia packet that is generated after the first multimedia packet. The UE may add the set of multimedia packets to a queue and apply an uplink packet handling protocol. Using the uplink packet handling protocol, the UE may discard the first multimedia packet and transmit, to a base station, the second multimedia packet. Using the second multimedia packet, a server in communication with the base station may generate a video frame and transmit the video frame to the UE via the base station.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for signaling and scheduling to enable network configured small gaps in intra-band inter-frequency measurement. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a serving cell operating on a first frequency, an indication that synchronization signal block (SSB) indexes of a target cell operating on a second frequency can be derived from timing of the serving cell; and deriving an SSB index of the target cell, based on the timing of the serving cell.

For instance, a wireless device may receive a signal from a first wireless network while the wireless device is in an idle mode; determine, from the received signal, a signal to noise ratio (SNR) and a doppler shift; retrieve stored network capability information; and estimate, based on the SNR, the doppler shift, and the stored network capability information, a throughput of the first wireless network.

In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.

In some aspects, a user equipment may receive bandwidth part configuration information configuring a dormancy profile for a first bandwidth part of a plurality of bandwidth parts; communicate, on a second bandwidth part, a plurality of types of signaling; and communicate, on the first bandwidth part, a subset of the plurality of types of signaling, such that at least one type of signaling, of the plurality of types of signaling, is suppressed in accordance with the dormancy profile.
