The present disclosure provides a conductive terminal and an electrical connector assembly. A high power electrical connector is provided for transmitting electrical signals from a pair of cables, such as high current capable cables, to an associated member, such as a dash panel. The high power electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a pair of contact path assemblies therethrough for transmission of the electrical signals. The cables include a shield layer that is biased to the backshell providing a ground path for the cables and connector.

High power electrical connector

A power module of an electrical connector is provided which has a dielectric housing and a pair of blade terminals. The housing has a forward face and a support arm projecting forwardly from the face. The support arm has opposing first and second sides. The housing has a cavity. The face has a pair of slots extending therethrough which are in communication with the cavity and which are provided adjacent the sides of the support arm. Each of the blade terminals has a body portion and a blade portion. The body portions are housed in the cavity and the blade portions extend through the slots and are positioned alongside the sides of the support arm. The electrical connector may also have a signal module interconnected to the power module. The electrical connector may also be configured to mate with another electrical connector as part of a connector assembly.

Power connector

A high power electrical connector is provided for transmitting electrical signals from a pair of cables, such as high current capable cables, to an associated member, such as a dash panel. The high power electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a pair of contact path assemblies therethrough for transmission of the electrical signals. The cables can be rotated relative to the housing and rotated relative to each other via the contact path assemblies. Ground path assemblies are also provided for grounding the cables. The cables can each be rotatable relative to a portion of the respective ground path assembly.

A connector is provided that includes a female terminal with sacrificial portion. The terminal is configured to minimize arcing between a mating male terminal and an intended contact portion of the female terminal. The female terminal is configured such that arcs between the male terminal and the female terminal occur such that the sacrificial portion of the female terminal experiences any arcing while the intended contact portion remains suitable for reliably engaging the male terminal.

Terminal and electrical connector with same

Modular connectors are provided that have a modular receptacle connector assembly matable with a modular plug connector assembly for connecting AC or DC power connectors and electrical signals including board-to-board and wire-to-board connection. Provided is a 'pass through' modular component to facilitate connection and disconnection of only the power supply for service without disconnecting the entire system. The wire connector also may load to the main housing thus obviating the need for a panel mount. Also provided is a one-unit modular connector system with either a coplanar or a right-angle design. Furthermore, multiple AC and/or DC power supplies can be provided that utilize minimum board space.

Modular connectors with easy-connect capability

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, conductive terminals mounted therein, and a conductive shield generally covering the housing. A shelf of the housing supports a portion of the shield. Each terminal has a main body, a front contact portion extending from an end of the main body and capable of engagement with contacts of a battery, a rear contact portion extending from an end of the main body and capable of engagement with contacts of an electronic device, and a tail portion extending perpendicularly from the main body. The tail portion is positioned between the front and rear contact portions. The front contact portion is capable of deflecting along a plane defined by a centerline of the main body.

High current electrical connector

Power connector modules are provided that can be plug connectors, receptacle connectors, or a system of plug and receptacle connector modules and optionally other modules, that mate together. Each connector has an uncoupled contact feature. The uncoupled contacts have exposed surfaces to dissipate heat resulting from Joule effects. The uncoupled contacts for the plug connector converge to form a blade structure at one side. The uncoupled contacts for the receptacle connector form a receiving section that engages the blade structure of the plug connector when the plug connector and receptacle connector are used together.

Low profile modular electrical connectors and systems

A battery pack, charger, and terminal blocks for the pack, charger and a cordless power tool are provided. The pack includes battery cells disposed between end caps within a bottom housing of the pack, and a potting boat for housing pack electronics electrically connected to the cells between the end caps and disposed within a pack top housing. A pack terminal block is connected to the potting boat within the top housing. The charger and the power tool each include a terminal block for providing electrical connections between the charger/tool and the battery pack. The terminal block is configured to float side-to-side to provide displaceable movement of the terminal block within the charger housing or tool housing for aligning the battery pack terminal block therein.

An interposer connector is provided that is suitable for translatable connection between a first and second connector. The interposer connector includes a housing with a face that includes an opening and a terminal positioned in the opening. The terminal is configured to pivot about the opening so that when the interposer is caused to couple the first and second connector, the terminal may translate along a first plane to account for misalignment in a first direction between the first and second connector. The housing may further be configured to allow the terminal to translate in a second plane that is substantially perpendicular to the first plane so as to account for misalignment in a second direction.

Interposer connector

An electrical power blade connector includes a dielectric housing having a mating cavity for receiving a mating connector inserted into the cavity through an open front end thereof in a mating direction. A pair of blade support arms project forwardly within the cavity. The support arms are spaced laterally of the mating direction. Each support arm has a pair of spaced grooves which open toward the other support arm. The grooves extend in the mating direction. A pair of blade terminals are supported in the pairs of grooves in the pair of support arms in spaced, generally parallel planes.

A laminated terminal is provided for an electrical connector and includes a plurality of flat metal layers juxtaposed to form a laminated structure. Each metal layer includes a joining section, a contact section and a terminating section. A plurality of projections on the joining sections of the layers are interengaged within a respective plurality of recesses in adjacent layers to align the layers and provide a strong mechanical and good electrical joint between the layers. Solder tails extend linearly along the bottom edge of each joining section to form a plurality of rows of solder tails, and the terminating portions of the metal layers are bent outwardly to separate the rows of solder tails from each other. The contact section of one metal layer may include a generally planar finger which is coplanar with a planar finger of another of the metal layers.

Laminated electrical terminal

A side-entry, blade-receiving electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a bottom wall and a blade-receiving receptacle at a side of the housing. At least one conductive terminal is mounted on the housing and includes a contact section exposed within the receptacle for electrically engaging a terminal blade of a complementary mating connecting device inserted into the side receptacle generally parallel to the printed circuit board. A mounting section is exposed exteriorly of the housing below the bottom wall thereof for mounting the connector on the printed circuit board. A flex section joins the mounting section to the contact section and performs a dual function of (a) spacing the bottom wall of the housing above the printed circuit board and (b) providing a yielding flexibility between the connector and the board.
