Disclosed embodiments include technologies for improving safety mechanisms in computer assisted and/or automated driving (CA/AD) vehicles for protecting vulnerable road users (VRUs). Embodiments include various mechanisms to enable early Responsibility Sensitive Safety (RSS) checks for the CA/AD vehicles driving policy to protect in-danger VRUs. Embodiments also include controlled forwarding mechanisms to notify other CA/AD vehicles and roadside infrastructure when a potentially dangerous situation is detected. A first processing subsystem configured to execute a first baseband process of the first radio communication protocol on the first signal and to generate a first output signal as an output of the first baseband process. The present disclosure describes mechanisms to manage session continuity for edge computing services for edge service consumers. The session management mechanisms include continuity or handing over edge service sessions between edge computing platforms in a same edge compute cluster and between edge computing platforms in different edge compute clusters. The session management mechanisms include edge computing platform switching/handover for user equipment capable of utilizing multiple access network connections and/or multiple access technologies. The described solutions can provide edge service session continuity between connected vehicles and road side units and/or edge compute nodes.

Managing session continuity for edge services in multi-access environments

Systems and techniques for mobility-as-a-service for user experience are described herein. An orchestration log may be maintained that includes current orchestration data. An orchestration backup record may be generated that includes alternate MaaS nodes on the MaaS network. It may be determined that connectivity is lost to a first orchestration container hosted by a first MaaS node. An orchestration container is generated using the orchestration log to maintain orchestration functionality. An available second MaaS node is identified from the alternate MaaS nodes. The orchestration container may be transferred to the second MaaS node.

Mobility-as-a-service for user experience

The present disclosure describes local breakout for edge computing systems, wherein the local breakout selectively routes the traffic from/to a user equipment between an edge compute node or some other service such as a core network, cloud computing service, or the like. Packets related to microservices that are offered by the edge compute node are routed to the edge compute node instead of routing those packets to the core network, and packets that are not related to the microservices provided by the edge compute node are routed to the core network or to another network such as a data network or cloud computing service. In these ways, the local breakout mechanisms provide low latency and reduced network resource consumption for the microservices and decreased data traffic load on the core network.

Techniques are disclosed to increase the safety of vehicles travelling in a vehicle platoon. These techniques include the utilization of a comprehensive safety framework such as a safety driving model (SDM) for the platoon control systems. In contrast to the conventional approaches, the use of the SDM model allows for platoon vehicle control systems to consider the acceleration/deceleration capabilities of the vehicles to calculate minimum safe longitudinal distances between the platoon vehicles. The disclosed techniques may utilize the periodicity of platoon messages as well as other parameters to improve upon platoon vehicle control and safety.

Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) system for control of connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) platoons

Bayesian Inference based communication receiver employs Markov-Chain Monte-Carlo (MCMC) sampling for performing several of the main receiver functionalities. The channel estimator estimates the multipath channel coefficients corresponding to a signal received with fading. The symbol demodulator demodulates the received signal according to a QAM constellation, so as to generate a demodulated signal, and estimate the transmitted symbols. The decoder reliably decodes the demodulated signals to generate an output bit sequence, factoring in redundancy induced at a certain code rate. A universal sampler may be configured to use MCMC sampling for generating estimates of channel coefficients, transmitted symbols or decoder bits, for aforementioned functionalities, respectively. The samples may then be used in one or more of the receiver tasks: channel estimation, signal demodulation, and decoding, which leads to a more scalable, reusable, power/area efficient receiver.

Always-on mobility-as-a-service connectivity

A resource management framework may be used to improve performance of dominant and non-dominant resources for edge multi-tenant applications. The resource management framework may include an admission control mechanism, which may be used to balance disproportionate resource allocations by controlling allocation of unconstrained resources proportional to the requested dominant resources based on resource availability. The admission control mechanism may provide ongoing monitoring of dominant and non-dominant resource utilization, such as using a hybrid centralized-distributed telemetry collection approach. The resource management framework may also include a lightweight resource monitoring and policy enforcement mechanism on distributed networking elements to reduce or eliminate the exploitations of non-dominant resources.

Nondominant resource management for edge multi-tenant applications

Technology is disclosed for a vehicle-capable user equipment (vUE) operable for sensing-based distributed scheduling 5 of event-based mission critical (MC) vehicle-to everything (V2X) traffic. The vUE can sense sidelink control information (SCI) for semi persistent scheduling (SPS) resource selection from one or more SCI messages received in one or more physical sidelink control channels (PSCCHs) from one or more neighboring vUEs. The vUE can identify: a number of MC resources to transmit event10 based MC data with a selected number of repetitions within a latency budget, wherein the MC resources include one or more of MC-SCI or MC data with the selected number of repetitions; and a number of available resources to transmit event-based MC data within the latency budget. The vUE can select revocable resources from one or more scheduled low-priority resources based on the sensed SCI for SPS resource selection.

Sensing-based distributed scheduling of event-based mission critical (MC) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) traffic

In one example a system to manage inter-vehicle communication in a decentralized vehicle-to-vehicle network comprises a plurality of sensors to detect context information about driving conditions proximate a first vehicle; a communication interface to manage communications between the first vehicle and a second vehicle; and a controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors and the communication interface and comprising processing circuitry, to receive context information from the plurality of sensors; determine, from the context information, when the first vehicle is approaching a dead zone in which contact with a communication network may be lost; and in response to a determination that the first vehicle is approaching a dead zone in which contact with a communication network may be lost, to activate a synchronization frame broadcast module to broadcast a synchronization frame via the communication interface. Other examples may be described.
