A paper machine wire for dewatering and sheet forming purposes is structured such that the tendency of causing wire marks is decreased and simultaneously a greater wearing capacity is gained by exchangeably working threads. The multi-layer paper machine wire includes an upper fabric layer and a lower fabric layer with each layer being connected to one another by binding thread. The lower fabric includes a weft thread that extends from a running side of the lower fabric to a center position and overlaps a warp thread. The weft thread protects the warp thread against wear and forms a cushion against wire marking.

A multi-layer paper machine wire includes an upper fabric layer, a lower fabric layer and an additional layer disposed between the upper and lower fabric layers. The additional layer includes weft threads that alternate with binding threads. Warp threads of the upper fabric layer run over the weft threads of the additional layer and are interwoven with binding threads of the additional layer. Likewise, weft threads of the lower fabric layer run below the weft threads of the additional layer and are interwoven with binding threads of the additional layer.

The invention relates to a paper machine wire for the wet end section of a paper machine, comprising a textile or non-texile fabric, especially a woven fabric, the one side of which is directed to the paper and the other, opposite side of which is directed to the paper machine, the one side of the fabric directed to the paper being at least partly covered by a fiber layer. The fiber layer is permanently compressed in some regions less intensively than in other regions.
