Augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) systems described herein can be configured to record images, video, and/or annotations for concurrent communication to a remote system for display or subsequent access. A communication between a user and an expert user using the system can include an audio communication (unidirectional or bidirectional), a video communication from the user to the expert user (allowing the expert user to see, in real time, the same environment as the user), and a data communication (via which content overlaid over the video communication, such as annotations, may be displayed for both the expert user and the user). The systems can be configured to communicate concurrently while also creating a recording for later review based on a 'live' or current issue being faced by a user assisted by an expert where the communication session is recorded for later playback by other users.

An authentication server may be adapted to (a) authenticate an authentication peer seeking to establish communications via a first network access node; (b) retrieve user profile information associated with the authentication peer; and/or (c) send the user profile information to a network gateway node that facilitates communication services for the authentication peer. A shared augmented reality system can support the sharing of video captured by a local user, using a head mounted display (HMD), with a remote user. The remote user may add augmented reality annotations (markings, notes, drawings) to certain objects within the environment captured within the video, where the annotations track the movement of those objects within the shared video. An HMD may not, however, provide a convenient interface for performing certain user-interface intensive tasks, which might be better performed on an additional device such as a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. During a shared augmented reality session, the additional device can be configured to communicate with a HMD such that certain tasks can be performed by the user through the additional device, and other tasks can be performed or experienced through the HMD. The additional device, the HMD and the remote user's device can communicatively coordinate during the session.

Aspects of the present disclosure provide a scheduling entity and methods of operating the scheduling entity such that the scheduling entity reconfigures/allocates its resources based on device capabilities of the wireless devices. The scheduling entity utilizes a first resource configuration to provide communications service to one or more wireless devices associated with the scheduling entity. The scheduling entity determines a change of the one or more wireless devices, wherein the change include at least one of a capability change of a wireless device, a quality of service (QoS) requirement change of a wireless device, an addition of a wireless device, or a removal of a wireless device. Based on at least one of a predetermined time of a day or the determined change, the scheduling entity reconfigures to a second resource configuration to facilitate resource utilization of the first wireless cell.

Systems and methods are described herein for providing a virtual conference using a master device implemented with a personal communication device (PCD), including determining, by the master device, a latency for each of a plurality of satellite devices connected to the master device. The master device then determines an uplink buffer duration based on a difference between a highest latency and a lowest latency among the plurality of satellite devices. The master device determines a processing time for an uplink data packet, the processing time being determined based, at least in part, on the uplink buffer duration. The master device then performs signal processing at the processing time for the received uplink data packets.

Systems and methods are described herein for providing a virtual conference with a master device connected to a plurality of satellite devices, including: receiving, by the master device, uplink data packets from a plurality of channels, each of the plurality of channels is associated with one of the plurality of satellite devices, and dividing, by the master device, the plurality of channels into two or more groups based on a conversation captured in the uplink data packets of each of the plurality of channels. The master device selects one group from the two or more groups for output. The master device also transmits downlink data packets corresponding to the selected group for the plurality of satellite devices.

Techniques for setting up a packet-switched video telephony (PSVT) call are described. A mobile originated (MO) device may transmit an invitation for the PSVT call to a mobile terminated (MT) device. The invitation may initiate a process to reserve and identify video and audio resources to establish the PSVT call. The MO device may determine whether the video resources are available. If the video resources are not available but audio resources are available, the MO device may instead establish the PSVT call with only an audio stream call between the MO device and the MT device. If audio resources become available ahead of video resources, the PSVT call may be established with an audio stream first and a video stream is automatically added to the call when video resources are reserved later, or the PSVT call is downgraded to a VoIP call if the video resources cannot be reserved.
