A retainer sleeve configured for use in a retainer system for a ground engaging tool includes a plurality of plate-like sections, each section being flexibly joined with an adjacent section along either a radially inner edge or a portion of a radially outer edge. The radially inner edges of the plurality of sections form part of a segmented inner surface configured for engagement with an outer surface of a locking member of the retainer system. The inner surface extends partially around a central axis of the retainer sleeve to form a substantially C-shaped retainer sleeve having opposite circumferential ends that are spaced from each other. The radially outer edges of the plurality of sections form part of a segmented, frustoconical outer surface configured for engagement in an internal lock cavity of a ground engaging tool tip.

A wear indicator is provided for a wear member of a machine wherein the wear member is subject to wear during use of the machine. The wear indicator may include a plug member configured to be positioned in a region of the wear member subject to wear. The plug member may be oriented with a central axis extending in a direction substantially parallel to a direction of wear of the wear member. The wear indicator may include a plurality of perceptibly different and distinct axial cross sections taken perpendicular to the central axis of the plug member in axially spaced planes along the central axis.

A wear member for a tool may have a generally planar first wear member portion defining an opening. The first wear member portion may also have a first inward surface defining a projection adjacent the opening for removably coupling the wear member to a mounting base attached to the tool. The wear member may also have a generally planar second wear member portion extending from the first wear member portion in a direction generally perpendicular to the first wear member portion. The second wear member portion may also have a second inward surface contiguous with the first inward surface. The first and second inward surfaces may define a receiving pocket configured to receive the mounting base, and the projection may be positioned completely within the receiving pocket.

A mounting base for removably coupling a wear member to a tool may have a generally planar first base portion, which may have an inward surface configured to be attached to the tool. The mounting base may also have a generally planar second base portion extending from the first base portion in a direction generally perpendicular to the first base portion. The second base portion may have an inward surface configured to be attached to the tool. The first base portion may define an opening including a notch-shaped portion and a rectangle-shaped portion.

An edge protection segment for an edge protection system of a ground engaging implement is disclosed. The edge protection segment includes a first side, a second side, a width, a wedge portion, an exterior leg, and an interior leg. The second side is oppositely disposed and lateral to the first side. The width is up to 6 centimeters and is the distance between the first side and the second side. The exterior leg and the interior leg each extend from the wedge portion. The wedge portion, the exterior leg and the interior leg each extend between the first side and the second side.
