A Wi-Fi mesh network uses a co-axial radio frequency (RF) cable to communicate between a central Wi-Fi mesh network node and one or more satellite Wi-Fi mesh network nodes instead of communicating wirelessly over the air between those nodes. In an example embodiment, the Wi-Fi signals are down-converted to a ˜500 MHz frequency range at the central Wi-Fi mesh network node and then passed through the RF cable. At the receiving end, the down-converted signal is then up-converted back from the ˜500 MHz frequency range to one of the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or 6 GHz frequency bands, which may then be wirelessly transmitted via Wi-Fi chipset of the satellite Wi-Fi mesh network node.

Systems and methods for transmitting Wi-Fi signals over a co-axial radio frequency (RF) cable

The present disclosure is directed to a mesh node to enhance a Wi-Fi connection throughput in an area with a weak coverage of an access point (AP). The mesh node provides an intermediate communication node that is moving to locations of the area which needs an improvement of the Wi-Fi connection throughput. A docking station is fixed in each location with a weak Wi-Fi connection throughput to provide a long-term energy source for the mesh node. Each docking station includes a power source to be coupled to the mesh node. The mesh node includes a transit power supply which provides a sufficient electrical energy during movements of the mesh node from a first location to a second location. Thus, the mesh node is capable of maintaining the Wi-Fi connection even during the movements between some locations.

System and method using dynamic throughput sensing to improve mesh network performance

Various embodiments of apparatus, systems (e.g., a gateway device) and/or methods are described for internet managing bandwidth and data usage. A category is assigned for each respective connected device in a stored list of the connected devices based on a function of each respective connected device. A priority list of the connected devices is created with regard to bandwidth use based on the category of the respective connected device. Bandwidth is provided to the connected devices based on the priority list. Also, a data reserve being less than a total recurring data cap is created. In response to determining a predefined data threshold has been met during a recurring period, non-critical functions of the connected devices are disabled for a remainder of the recurring period based on the priority list while allowing data communications with critical functions for the remainder of the recurring period.

Various arrangements are presented that involve an automated shutter control system being used with a separate and distinct video camera. The automated shutter control system can include a shutter, a shutter motor, power sensing circuitry that measures an amount of power being supplied to the electronic display, and a processing system. The processing system controls the shutter motor that causes the shutter to be actuated to an open position or a closed position based on the amount of power being supplied to the electronic display as measured by the circuitry of the power sensing circuitry.

Methods and apparatuses for improving satellite broadcasting services by enhancing set-top box (STB) signal reception during weather conditions that obstruct the transmission of RF signals from one or more satellites to a receiving antenna (e.g., a dish antenna) are described. To prevent loss of satellite broadcasting services, an enhanced STB signal system may be arranged between the receiving antenna and an STB in order to provide an enhanced signal to the STB in the event that the RF signals received by the receiving antenna are not able to be decoded. The enhanced STB signal system may transmit an enhanced signal to the STB instead of a signal that was only derived from the receiving antenna. The enhanced signal may comprise a combination of signals that derive from other receiving antennas different from the receiving antenna, as well as the signal derived from the receiving antenna.

Techniques are described for quick charging of batteries. For example, a battery charging system can include a battery charger integrated circuit (IC) and a fuel gauge IC coupled between a battery and a central processor to execute a stored multi-phase battery charging protocol. Executing the protocol can include charging the battery in a constant current regulation phase by applying a constant charge current until a charge voltage (e.g., measured by the battery charger IC) reaches a defined regulation voltage that is higher than the nominal voltage of the battery plus the voltage drop across series components of the battery. Protection of the battery during such charging includes monitoring a present relative state of charge (RSOC) of the battery (e.g., by the fuel gauge IC) to detect when the present RSOC reaches a defined regulation RSOC level that may be substantially 100 percent of the charge capacity of the battery.
