Disclosed is a method and apparatus for exploiting Radio Access Technology (RAT) system information blocks for global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning. The method may include processing, by a mobile device with carrier aggregation, a voice call via a first RAT, the processing of the voice call causing second RAT capabilities of the mobile device to go out of service. The method may also include accessing a communications network using the second RAT with an available receiver of the mobile device during the voice call via the first RAT. The method may also include obtaining, with the available receiver, timing information from one or more broadcast system information blocks of the second RAT, and determining a time based, at least in part, on the obtained timing information.

Method and apparatus for exploiting radio access technology system information blocks for time transfer based positioning

Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses for locating a User Equipment (UE) using one or more proximity devices (PDs) nearby to the UE. One of the provided exemplary techniques includes initiating, by the UE, a request for a location of the UE; sending, by the UE to a location server, a first message comprising a first information for at least one PD in communication with the UE; receiving, by the UE from the location server, a second message comprising a second information for the at least one PD; sending, by the UE to the at least one PD, the second information; receiving, by the UE from the at least one PD, a third information; and obtaining, by the UE, the location of the UE based on the third information.

The method may also include obtaining assistance data that includes information for capturing reference signals of a wireless communications network suitable for performing a positioning process with the mobile device during the voice call over the first RAT. Furthermore, based on the obtained assistance data, the method may include searching for the reference signals using an available receiver of the mobile device to access the wireless communications network. The method may also include providing signal measurements generated from captured reference signals to a position determining entity.

Method and apparatus for improving positioning performance on a mobile device with carrier aggregation capabilities

Embodiment methods and devices enable use of a shared radio resource on a multi-SIM wireless communication device to maintain session information on a service associated with one SIM during unused time slots of an active communication session associated with another SIM. During the session, a processor may calculate radio idle time periods in the active communication session, determine whether any of the radio idle time periods will exceed a predetermined threshold duration, and retune the shared radio resource to receive search samples on a frequency of the non-active network during radio idle time periods that exceed the predetermined threshold duration. Search samples may be stored for processing between radio idle time periods in order to maintain session information on a service associated with one SIM and provide service information to applications executing on the device during the active communication session.
