After a driver parks a vehicle and has left the vehicle, a system relocates the autonomous vehicle into an optimized parking spot. The system obtains availability of other parking spots within a parking lot in which the vehicle is located. The system estimates whether any alternate parking spot would optimize cabin temperature and whether the energy consumed to complete an autonomous relocation of the vehicle will obtain a net savings in fuel economy relative to the energy expended by the relocation. The system determines the benefits of these optimized parking spots by using shaded and unshaded areas, GPS location of the vehicle, current date and time, and weather and fuel consumption estimates. If a favorable parking spot is determined, the autonomous vehicle relocates into the optimal alternate parking spot and informs the driver of the new location.

Vehicle automated re-parking for cabin temperature and fuel economy optimization

A vent device for a vehicle component includes a main body and a cap. The main body includes a central tube and an outer wall. The central tube defines a main vent passage about a central axis. The outer wall is disposed about the tube and cooperates therewith to define a drain passage. The main body defines an outlet of the drain passage open to an exterior. The cap cooperates with the top of the main body to define a vent chamber. The cap and a top portion of the central tube cooperate to define an upper vent passage in fluid communication with the vent chamber, the drain passage, and an outlet of the main vent passage. A bottom portion of the cap at least partially defines a vent outlet radially outward of the drain passage and open to the vent chamber and an exterior of the vent device.

Vehicle vent system

Methods and systems are provided for a flexible support for a vehicle. In one example, the flexible support is formed of a composite material and configured to surround a vehicle component and absorb oscillations generated by the vehicle. The composite material may be a mixture of aluminum particles dispersed in an elastomer matrix.

Methods and systems are provided for a coupling device. In one example, the coupling device may be formed of a composite material and positioned between an exhaust system and a vehicle chassis. The composite material may include aluminum particles dispersed in an elastomer matrix to reduce an overall thermal absorptivity of the composite material.

A fuel economy and comfort control apparatus is provided for a motor vehicle. That apparatus includes a plurality of sensors and a controller. The controller is configured to determine and advise an operator of the motor vehicle of the most fuel efficient mode of operating a climate control system of the motor vehicle to maintain occupant comfort while optimizing fuel efficient operation of the motor vehicle. A related method is also disclosed.
