A composite anchor has an anchoring rod and a crushable cartridge filled with two components of a hardenable bonding agent which include a mineral mortar component and a water component separated from one another by crushable separating means. When the cartridge with the separating means is crushed by the anchoring rods the components are mixed by the anchoring rod in order to fix the anchoring rod in a drilled hole. The water component has a thixotropic agent which is paste-like unless it is subjected to shear forces.

A fixing element has a shank having a rear end and a leading end, a holding element arranged on the rear end of clamping an article to a building component, at least one expansion region extending from the leading end in a longitudinal direction for part of a length of the shank. The expansion region is formed by a longitudinal slot with a base surface raising toward the leading end. A expansion member is inserted in the longitudinal slot. The base surface slopes upwardly and ends at an outer circumference of the shank at a distance from the leading end. The expansion member is formed as a wedge with a length substantially corresponding to a lenght of the longitudinal slot and lies on the base surface so as to be displaceable toward the leading end. The wedge has an outer surface provided with roof-shaped teeth which project beyond the shank at least by a part of a height of the teeth.

Expansible fixing member

An expansible anchor for anchoring in a hole drilled in a concrete part has a shaft having a rear end for fastening an article and a front end with a portion of reduced cross-section and an adjoining expander cone; a slide-enhancing sleeve arranged on the shank, an expansible sleeve arranged on the shank and on the slide-enhancing sleeve, the slide-enhancing sleeve being formed as a thin-walled plastic sleeve having a continuous longitudinal slit and arranged on the reduced portion of the shank, the plastic sleeve having a stop edge that abuts the expansible sleeve and formed so that the slide-enhancing sleeve is pushable with the stop edge onto the expander cone when the expander cone is drawn into the expansible sleeve.

Metal expansible anchor

A fixing element has an expansion zone formed by a longitudinal slot having a trapezoidal cross-section and produced by stamping, and an expander member inserted in the longitudinal slot and displaceable therein. On the two sliding surfaces of the longitudinal slot arranged at an angle to one another the expander member rests with its two bearing surfaces, likewise arranged at an angle to one another. The external surface of the expander member provided with teeth of roof-shaped construction projects beyond the shank of the fixing element at least with a part of the height of the teeth. The expander member lying in the longitudinal slot so that it is easily displaceable allows subsequent expansion of the anchored fixing element in the event that the drilled hole widens as a result of cracks forming.

An expansible plug for anchoring in a drilled hole having an undercut, comprises a threaded bolt having a leading end with an expander cone at the leading end, an expansible sleeve having a leading end and a rear end and provided with a plurality of longitudinal slits starting from the leading end of the expansible sleeve and extending for a part of a length of the expansible sleeve. The expansible sleeve has a cylindrical portion arranged at the leading end of the expansible sleeve, and also an annular groove adjoining the cylindrical portion and tapering toward the rear end of the expansible sleeve. The groove is bounded in a region of the slits by a rounded portion. The expansible sleeve is composed of a fiber-reinforced, high-strength plastic material.

A nail comprises a shank having an expansion portion with two curved expansion limbs defining a free space therebetween, a first straight shank portion and a second straight shank portion located correspondingly before and after the expansion region, the free space being formed as a longitudinal notch starting from the first straight shank portion and extending to the forward end, the notch having a notch base rising in direction toward the forward nail end, and a wedge arranged in the longitudinal notch and bearing against the notch base, the wedge having an upper edge slightly projecting beyond the shank and being displaceable in direction toward and along the rising notch base.

An expansible fixing plug, comprising a body part composed of a plastic material and having a leading end and a rear end, the body part having a longitudinal channel extending from the rear end for insertion of a fixing screw and the like. The longitudinal channel has a cylindrical portion approximately corresponding to an external diameter of the screw. A narrowing portion adjoins the cylindrical portion. The body part also has a slot extending from the leading end over a part of a length of the body part. The narrowing portion of the longitudinal channel has a cross-section starting from the cylindrical portion and having a lozenge shape. The narrowing portion of the longitudinal channel in a plane of the slot has a corner to corner width which remains the same for an entire length of the narrowing portion and substantially corresponds to a diameter of the cylindrical portion. The narrowing portion at right angles to the plane of the slot has a corner to corner width which decreases toward the leading end of the body part.

A nail-like fixing element has a shank having a rear end and a front end, and a retaining element provided at the rear end of the shank for clamping an article to a component. The shank has at least one expansion zone extending from the front end in a longitudinal direction of a part of a length of the shank and being formed by a free space. An expansion element is inserted in the free space. The space is formed as a U-shaped longitudinal slot with a base which slopes up toward the front end. The expansion element is formed as a wedge which is located in the longitudinal slot on the base so as to be displaceable towards the front end. The wedge has an outer face provided with teeth which project beyond the shank.

The anchor for anchoring in a drilled hole in concrete via a joining composition, includes a threaded bolt consisting of a straight shank portion having an expander cone at one end thereof to be inserted in the drilled hole and a threaded portion at the other end, the expander cone having an outer surface and an end face and widening toward the end face; an expandable sleeve arranged on the threaded bolt enclosing the expander cone and structured to be expanded by the expander cone and a plastic covering on the end face and the outer surface of the expander cone and an adjoining part of the straight shank portion. The complete plastic covering over the expander cone and the adjoining part of the straight shank portion ensures that the joining composition does not bond the expandable sleeve to the threaded bolt, thus hindering subsequent expansion of the expandable sleeve by the expander cone due to crack formation at the drilled hole.

An impact-type expansible plug for anchoring in a cylindrical drilled hole of a concrete part and the like has an expansion sleeve provided with at least one longitudinal slot and expandable in a drilled hole, and also has an expansion sleeve with a conically narrowing internal bore, and an expansion mandrel drivable into the conically narrowing internal bore of the expansion sleeve. The expansion sleeve has a forward end provided with an annular collar having a radially directed circumferential cutting edge, and also has a portion tapering toward the annular collar.

The expansible plug has an expander body at one end of a plug shank and an expansible sleeve which slids over the expander plug in operation. A sliding ring is often provided between the expander body and the expansible sleeve to improve the sliding properties of the expansible sleeve over the expander plug. To prevent slippage of the sliding ring off the expander plug, the sliding ring can be provided with an interlocking inner profile which engages in an outer thread or a plurality of annular steps on the outer surface of the expander body. The expansible plug can be used to attach objects to a masonry wall by inserting the expansible plug into a drilled blind hole with the expander body at the base of the hole and a fixing means which may include a threaded portion on the shank protruding from the hole.
