A ball joint () for a chassis of a vehicle has an inner joint portion () and a one-piece slide bearing () made of plastic. A joint ball () of the inner joint portion () is fitted so that it can swivel in a ball-bearing section (). The slide bearing () has a holding section () for the arrangement of a sensor element (). In order to simplify the structure and/or assembly of the ball joint (), the outside of the slide bearing () has a circular-ring-shaped contact surface () which is formed coaxially relative to a central longitudinal axis () of the slide bearing () and which co-operates with a separate closure ring () surrounding the outside of the slide bearing () to fix the slide bearing () in a joint housing ().

A chassis component () has a joint inner portion () and a structural component (), where the joint inner portion () is fitted and able to move in an articulated manner in a joint holder (). A measuring device () is configured to determine a relative position of the joint inner portion () with respect to the structural component () and includes a first measuring element () and a second measuring element (). The first measuring element () is on the structural component () and the second measuring element () is on the joint inner portion (). In one example, the joint inner portion () extends out of the joint holder () and the second measuring element () is attached on a section () of the joint inner portion () which is outside the joint holder ().

Disclosed is a chassis component () having a measuring device () for determining a relative position of two chassis components connected movably with one another. For example, a first chassis component is a joint () with at least one rotation axis () and a second chassis component is a structural component (), the structural component () being mounted by means of the joint () so that it can pivot around the rotation axis () of the joint (). The measuring device () has a signal emitter () and a sensor device () with a signal receiver (), where the sensor device () is arranged on the structural component () and the signal emitter () is arranged on the joint (). To improve an arrangement of the sensor device () on the structural component (), the sensor device () extends through a through-opening ().

A chassis component () has a first end section (), a second end section (), and a connecting section () between the two end sections (), with at least one bearing () in one of the two end sections (). A sensor device () has a sensor housing () with a first sensor element (). To improve and/or enable the arrangement of the sensor device () and/or the sensor housing () on the chassis component (), the two end sections () and the connecting section () of the chassis are made as a one-piece profile () open on one side along its length, such that the open profile () forms an at least partially free inside space (), and where the first sensor element () is located within the inside space ().
