The invention relates to a method and system for ensuring a PSTN protocol restart procedure as defined by the V5 standard after a failure of a first data link carrying PSTN protocol signalling messages. In the method, a first time-out (TC ) for starting the restart process is observed and, if the time-out has tripped, the restart procedure is started by sending a start message using a Control protocol signalling message consistent with the V5 standard. According to the invention, after the first data link carrying the PSTN protocol has been restored to working order, a check is carried out to establish whether a second data link intended to carry Control protocol signalling messages is in order, and this check is repeated until the second data link intended to carry Control protocol signalling messages is in order, and when the second data link is in order, a message for starting the PSTN protocol restart procedure is sent in the Control protocol.

Method and system for ensuring a PSTN protocol restart procedure as defined by the V5 standard

The invention concerns a method and a system for redefinition of the configuration of an interface in a telecommunication system comprising a local exchange, and access node, subscriber ports comprised in said network elements and an interface connecting the subscriber ports of the first network element to the subscriber ports of the second network element. In the method, free subscriber ports are blocked and the configuration of the interface is redefined after all the subscriber ports have been blocked. According to the invention, a connection established or being established via the subscriber port is disconnected before the port is blocked. The system of the invention comprises means for disconnecting a connection established or being established via the subscriber port.

Method and system for reconfiguration of an interface

The present invention relates to a procedure for ensuring the activation of a V5 interface formed between a local exchange and an access node. According to the invention, the checking of the operational condition of the primary and secondary links is started simultaneously both on the local exchange side and on the access node side, and if a confirmation indicating that the link is operational is received for the secondary link first, then a switchover of the primary link to the secondary link according to the V5 definitions is performed and the new primary link is used for protection in the V5 interface during the V5 interface activation process. The invention makes it possible to avoid unnecessary interruptions of activation during the V5 interface activation procedure.

The present invention relates to a procedure for ensuring the operation of signalling channels in a V5 interface between a local exchange (LE) and an access node (AN). The interface includes at least two links (L), in conjunction with redefinition of the interface composition. Redefinition generally involves making changes in the V5 interface data, such as the location of signalling channels on the links. According to the invention, the operation of protected channels in conjunction with restarting is ensured by starting the protected channels on the channels defined for them in the new composition and on the channels to which they were transferred in conjunction with the protection switch-over.
