A system that monitors user activity includes a wrist device including a curved body and an electronic circuitry supported by the body. The electronic circuitry includes a first set of light emitting diodes arranged in a matrix form and forming a display unit, at least one motion sensor configured to measure physical motion caused by a user to the wrist device, and at least one processor configured to acquire motion measurement data from the at least one motion sensor, to process the motion measurement data into a motion activity metric, and to cause the display unit to display the motion activity metric. The at least one processor is further configured to acquire heart activity measurement data from a heart activity sensor, to process the heart activity measurement data into a heart activity metric, and to cause the display unit to display the heart activity metric.

System for monitoring physical activity

An electrode belt includes at least one electrode to measure biometric signals related to heart activity of a user, a non-conductive strip having at least one opening, and a flexible strip to enable placement of the electrode belt against the skin of the user. The non-conductive strip is coupled with the flexible strip such that, when in use, the at least one electrode is in physical contact with the skin of the user.

Enhancing physical activity measurement

The invention relates to a method, a user-specific performance monitor and a computer program for determining the user's performance. In the method, the performance power of a physical exercise is determined by means of user movement data registered by the user-specific performance monitor. Further, the exertion level corresponding to the performance power of the physical exercise is determined by means of physiological information measured from the user, the physiological information being registered by the user-specific performance monitor; and the user's performance is estimated by means of the performance power of the physical exercise and the exertion level corresponding to the performance power of the physical exercise.

User-specific performance monitor, method, and computer software product

A portable apparatus including an interface configured to input first motion data of a user from a foot-worn first self-contained activity determining unit is disclosed. The portable apparatus also includes a second self-contained activity determining unit configured to determine second motion data of the user. Furthermore, the portable apparatus includes a processing unit configured to determine and store a user-specific dependency between the first motion data and the second motion data, and determine a current speed of the user or a current traveled distance of the user based on current second motion data and the user-specific dependency.

A portable apparatus including a first interface configured to input speed data of a user or location data of the user from a positioning unit utilizing external reference points is disclosed. The portable apparatus also includes a second interface configured to input motion data of a user from a self-contained activity determining unit. Furthermore, the portable apparatus includes a processing unit configured to constitute, if the first interface only inputs the location data, speed data from the location data, select filtering characteristics based on the motion data, filter the speed data with the selected filtering characteristics, and determine physiological data of the user with the filtered speed data.
