In order to facilitate group communication using characteristics of a prearranged group but not involving all members of the pre-arranged group, a parameter indicating that the group communication is not intended to all members of the pre-arranged group is added by an inviting group member sending a request to a group server, and the group server, in response to the parameter, is configured to not to invite all members to the group communication.

Group communication

In order to facilitate group communication using characteristics of a pre-arranged group but not involving all members of the pre-arranged group, a parameter indicating that the group communication is not intended to all members of the pre-arranged group is added by an inviting group member sending a request to a group server, and the group server, in response to the parameter, is configured to not to invite all members to the group communication.

Methods and apparatuses for sending or receiving a page mode message include, for example, sending a page mode message using a session mode message mechanism with an indication indicating that a session mode is for the page mode message. A session is established for carrying the page mode message by message session relay protocol.

Page-mode messaging

The present invention relates to a method, system, client device, conference server device and computer program product of controlling media composition in a multi-party conversation involving a central control point (). At a participant () of said multi-party conversation, a scope information (SoM) which specifies members of said multi-party conversation is selected and added to a session modifying request. The session modifying request is transmitted to the central control point () which initiates a media modification at the specified members in response to the scope information (SoM). Thereby, a client can control whether media modification is applied to the whole conference, selected participants or only between the client itself and the conference server.

Third-party session modification

A method of operating a mobile communication system-supporting data transmission between a mobile station (MS) and a network in a number of different packet data protocols (PDPs) including a point-to-multipoint-multicast (PTM-M) protocol PDP data is formatted and unformatted by a sub-network dependent convergence protocol (SNDCP) according to the PDP of data. The PDP is identified to the SNDCP by a protocol identifier transmitted between the network and the mobile station. In order to allow a MS to receive a PTM-M in an IDLE state, a unique protocol identifier is permanently assigned to PTM-M transmissions while other identifiers are dynamically assigned to other PDPs by the network.

Point-to-multipoint mobile radio transmission

A method of managing chat services in a communications system comprising the steps of: a first user terminal initiating a chat session with a session manager; said first user terminal inviting a second user terminal to join the chat session, wherein the second user terminal is associated with a blocklist of blocked users that are blocked from communicating with the second user terminal; checking if a third user terminal invited to join the chat session by the first user terminal is listed in the blocklist; and in the event that the third user terminal is in the blocklist, creating a notification message to notify a user of the second user terminal that a blocked user is joining the chat session.

Notification of a blocked user entering or participating in a multi-user chat session

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for page-mode messaging. The method includes determining whether a page-mode message exceeds a predetermined size limit. The method further includes sending, using a terminal, the page-mode message using a session-mode messaging mechanism when it is determined that the page-mode message exceeds the predetermined size limit, with an indication indicating that a session-mode is for the page-mode message. Further, the method includes applying, using the terminal, a session description protocol to initiate a session in the session-mode messaging mechanism, and adding, using the terminal, the indication to a header of a session initiation message.

A method is provided for allocating a radio resource in a packet switched data transmission system, such as GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), which data transmission system includes terminals and a network. In the method, terminals communicate with the network over the radio interface using the packet transfer mode, and for communication, a radio resource is allocated to the terminal. For allocating the radio resource, for the packet switched implementation of a realtime service, a first message is transmitted from the terminal to the network and the first message is received in the network. The network identifies the first message as a radio resource request for the packet switched implementation of a realtime service and allocates to the terminal the requested radio resource for the packet switched implementation of the realtime service. A wireless terminal and network element relating to the method are also provided.

Allocation of radio resources from a network in a packet switched data transmission

A method, user equipment, and computer program product are disclosed for accepting a plurality of media streams at a first user equipment, and then sending a session initiation protocol refer request to a recipient. The request specifies a second user equipment, and the request also indicates a subset of those media streams which the recipient is requested to offer to the second user equipment. There can be at least two media streams of the same media type, out of which some media stream(s) are to be offered to the second user equipment and the other media stream(s) are not to be offered to the second user equipment.

Method, user equipment and software product for media stream transfer between devices

Establishing a data communications session involves determining a personal characteristic associated with a user of a terminal. A predetermined criterion for allowing establishment of the data communications session based on the personal characteristic is obtained. A token is embedded in a signaling message used to establish the data communications session. The token represents at least one of the personal characteristic and the predetermined criterion. The signaling message is communicated with a network entity capable of allowing users to establish the data communications session. The data communications session is established via the network entity if the personal characteristic satisfies the predetermined criterion.

Limiting access to network functions based on personal characteristics of the user

A method of deleting an item from a user account in a SIP multimedia environment. When an item such as an instant message is to be deleted, a SIP REFER message is transmitted from a user device to delete the item from the user account, with the message including a unique identifier for the item. In response to the transmitted request, an SIP INVITE session is established between a virtual agent and a network-based deleted items location. After the SIP INVITE session is established, the item is transferred from the user account to the network-based deleted items location and is deleted from the user account.

Deleting mechanism in SIP multimedia services

A way to provide page-mode messaging is to send a message using a session-mode messaging mechanism with an indication indicating that the session-mode is for a pager-type message. In response to said indication, a receiver treats the message as a page-mode message although it was received in the session-mode.

The disclosed embodiments relate to a method for arranging the transfer of packets between a wireless data transfer device (MS) and a mobile communication network (NW). For transferring packets between the wireless data transfer device (MS) and the mobile communication network (NW), temporary block flows (UL TBF, DL TBF) are formed, and information is transferred in these block flows in one or more packet data traffic channels (PDTCH) either in the first direction from the mobile communication network (NW) to the wireless data transfer device (MS) or in the second direction from the wireless data transfer device (MS) to the mobile communication network. In the method, information about the end of the block flow is set in a packet to be transmitted in a block flow when data transfer has stopped. When the transfer of packets in said first direction has stopped, at least one enquiry message is also sent from the mobile communication network (NW) to the wireless data transfer device (MS). If there are packets to be sent to the mobile communication network (NW) in the wireless data transfer device (MS), a reply message to the enquiry message is sent from the wireless data transfer device (MS), which also sets information about the need to send packets in the reply message.
