A low energy switch contact design uses a flat spring moveable contact with contact portions made from the sides of the spring bent ninety degrees from the main spring body so as to make point contact with a stationary contact edge located either above or below the moveable contact. The spring is preferably bifurcated for redundancy of contact.

Dual cross edge contacts for low energy switches

A low ampere mechanical switch has a contact design creating a line of contact between the moveable and stationary contacts. The stationary contacts are stainless steel and the moveable contact is Inconel.TM.. Both contacts have a thin plating of gold alloy to provide for good mechanical strength at high temperature with a natural lubricating ability. The contact physical design provides good wiping action and mechanical contact while preventing troughing.

Low current high temperature switch contacts

A switch is made for use in elevated temperatures. A first stationary contact carrier is made of stainless steel and configured to be rigidly attached to a first stationary contact pad that is made of a nickel silver alloy. A second stationary contact pad of fine silver is used as the normally opened contact. A movable contact pad made of a silver cadmium oxide alloy is movable from a first position in contact with the normally closed first contact pad to a second position in contact with the normally opened second stationary contact pad.

Switch with improved contacts for use in high temperature environments

A switch housing is made with a laminated cover that comprises an inner plate, an outer plate and a metallic sheet that is disposed therebetween. The metallic sheet is formed with a raised portion that defines a raised surface that is a deformable membrane. The protrusion formed in the metallic sheet is disposed through an opening in an outer plate. An inner plate has an opening which is aligned with the opening of the outer plate and the three laminae are spot welded together to define a cover. The laminated cover is welded to a housing with a switching mechanism disposed therein. The deformable membrane of the protrusion formed in the sheet can be attached to a pin that has an outer portion and an inner portion. The outer portion is attached to an external lever and the inner portion is attached to an internal lever. The internal lever is disposed in operative association with a switching mechanism to change the connection status of the switching mechanism in response to movement of the outer lever. The laminated cover eliminates the need for brazing a cup-shaped lever to a cover plate in the region of the deformable membrane.
