The present invention provides a system including a portable device capable of displaying information from, and transmitting commands/controls to, a base station audio/video/data source via a local transceiver module. The audio/video/data source may be embodied in a portable or stationary satellite receiver/decoder, a local video source, or any similar device. The present invention allows for highly portable access to satellite information, without need for a satellite reception antenna associated with each portable device, and without disturbing the equipment in direct contact with the satellite as the portable devices are moved in a highly portable manner. Other embodiments of the present invention provide a distribution method and apparatus for use in theater or stadium settings.

Miniature wireless audio/video/data distribution and access system

This invention relates to a solar photon filter, hereafter known as the SPF, which is a combination band-pass filtering system consisting of a multiple set of cold or hot mirrors and infra-red absorbers set in a 360-degree or linear arrangement. The system removes almost all of the photons carried by waves having lengths longer than 1000 nm (nanometers)+/&#x2212;100 nm, while passing almost all of the incoming photons carried by waves having lengths shorter than 1000 nm+/&#x2212;100 nm and/or variations thereof. This is accomplished by positioning a set of cold or hot mirrors in constant optical track with the sun. Such an assembly of cold or hot mirrors allows solar photons carried by light to be split into two distinct bands of frequencies for use requiring such filtering separation.

Solar photon filter

A method for remote medical consulting includes collecting diagnostic data using at least one wearable device contoured to at least a portion of a person's hand, transmitting the diagnostic data to a remote location, transmitting audio data and video images of the patient to the remote location, and communicating diagnosis and/or treatment information to the patient based at least in part on the diagnostic data. The treatment information may include a prescription electronically transmitted to the patient or a pharmacy. The method includes billing of the patient via credit or debit card, bank account, or a third party, such as an insurance company. The diagnostic data as well as the audio and video data may be transmitted wirelessly via cellular or satellite communication networks and/or using a wide area computer network such as the internet.

Method for remote medical consultation and care

Information such as audio/visual signals, books, video games, etc. are broadcast via satellite and received in a set top box. When requested by a hand held computing device (HHCD), the information is transmitted by the set top box to the HHCD and stored in the HHCD. The HHCD may be configured to display the information on the HHCD's display screen, play back the audio, read a book on the display screen, play a video game on the hand held device, etc. The HHCD may also be configured to transmit the information to a set top box that is connected to an output device (e.g., a television, stereo, etc.). The information is played back or utilized by the output device.

Method and apparatus for transmitting, receiving, and utilizing audio/visual signals and other information

The invention is an electromagnetic wave or 'EM' coupler for successfully connecting EM waves between an EM generator output and a conductive pathway or 'c-pathway' that is not normally considered as an EM transmission medium or line. The coupler includes a dual surface shell-like structure with an electrically conductive outer surface that is insulated from an electrically conductive inner surface that is attached at a specified location along a c-pathway. The forward end of the inside surface of the coupler is attached to the c-pathway while the outside surface of the forward end of the coupler is left unconnected and open. To provide a successful EM connection between the coupler and the c-pathway, the physical size of the coupler is configured as a physically shaped component with a relationship to the c-pathway itself rather than to the particular EM wave required to make such connectivity. To facilitate a realistic physical coupler structure, an additional impedance matching system is coupled between the EM wave generator output and the coupler itself. The EM generator is appropriately connected to an impedance tuning network whose output is then electrically connected to the coupler with the ground component connected to the rearward end of the outside surface of the coupler while the active component is connected to the inside surface of the rearward end of the coupler.
