The present invention is directed to a method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for utilizing a shared computer system. The method includes receiving, utilizing at least one interface, an access request associated with a potential user for access to a secure data processing center. The method may also include processing, utilizing at least one processor, the access request. The system may also include determining, based on the processed access request, a classification of the potential user with respect to one or more potential or actual access rights to be associated with the potential user for accessing the secure data processing center. In the method, the determined classification of the potential user is that the potential user is at least one of a non-user, an eligible user, a limited user and an authorized user of the secure data processing center. In the method, the determining includes identifying whether the potential user is associated with an entity that is at least one of a financial entity, a health care entity, a national security entity, a law enforcement entity an educational entity or a combination thereof.

Batch, or 'offline', blocking takes a set of records and generates sets (or blocks, hence the name blocking) of potentially matching records for the entire set. An automated blocking technique is used as a first step to find approximate matches in a database. The technique builds a blocking set to be as liberal as possible in retrieving records that match on individual fields or sets of fields while avoiding selection criteria that are predicted to return more than the maximum number of records defining a particular special requirement. The ability to do blocking without extensive manual setup at low cost is highly advantageous especially when using a machine learning based second-stage matching algorithm.
