A suspension for a vehicle includes a pair of opposing upper and lower control arms that longitudinally locate an axle along the frame. The upper and lower control arms include first ends pivotably mounted to the ends of the axle at upper pivotable axle joints and a second lower pivotable axle joints, respectively. The upper and lower control arms include second ends that are pivotably mounted to frame hanger brackets at upper and lower pivotable hanger joints, respectively. The frame hanger bracket are laterally interposed between an upper and lower hanger joint so that an upper pivotable hanger joint is on one side of each frame hanger and a lower pivotable hanger joint is on an opposite side of the each frame hanger.

A method for increasing the aerodynamic efficiency of a vehicle includes monitoring operating condition of a vehicle, determining if a pre-selected event has occurred with respect to the operating condition of the vehicle, communicating a spacing value to a moving device and adjusting a spacing between a cab and a trailer of the vehicle based on the communicated spacing value.

Tractor trailer gap control system

A mounting arrangement for a vertically oriented exhaust system component includes a base member mountable to a vehicle frame with a plurality of upstanding rods fixed to the base member. At least one clamping band is interconnected with the plurality of rods and can be clamped onto an exhaust component. The arrangement is advantageous for heavy components such as SCR catalyst bodies and diesel particulate filters.

Support for vertically mounted exhaust components

A suspension arrangement for interconnecting a frame and an axle in a vehicle includes a control arm having an upper beam and a lower beam, each beam having a first end and a second end, the first end of each beam being pivotally connectable to a vehicle frame at a common pivot point, and the second end of each beam being connected to a bushing arrangement mountable to the vehicle axle, the bushing arrangement having an upper portion connected to the upper beam and a lower portion connected to the lower beam.

Twist beam suspension with dual beam control arm

A tow assembly for a truck for high capacity loads provides independent load paths interconnected to a tow eye for bearing a towing load. According to one embodiment, the assembly includes a mounting interface having a front face and oppositely located side faces and defining an interior space, a first outer member extending from one side face of the mounting box, a second outer member extending from an opposite side face of the mounting box, an inner member disposed and extending through the first outer member, the interface, and the second outer member, and, a tow eye mounted to the front face of the interface and structurally interconnected to the inner bar. Towing loads are transmitted to the mounting interface and distributed and shared by the inner member and first and second tube structure.

Tow assembly for heavy trucks

A cross-member for supporting a vehicle chassis loads includes a generally shaped member including: i) a generally flat top sheet; ii) a first side sheet extending at an angle from the top sheet, along a length of the top sheet at a location inset from a first side edge of the top sheet such that the top sheet overhangs the first side sheet; iii) a second side sheet extending at an angle from the top sheet, along a length of the top sheet at a location inset from a second side edge of the top sheet such that the top sheet overhangs the second side sheet.
