In one example, a system includes telemetry circuitry configured for communication between a medical device and an external device associated with the medical device and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to determine connection parameters for a connection between the medical device and the external device based on one or more of first information detected by the external device or second information detected by the medical device. The processing circuitry is further configured to output an advertisement for the connection between the medical device and the external device based on the connection parameters and establish the connection between the medical device and the external device according to advertisement.

A method of determining signal quality in a patient monitoring device includes acquiring one or more signals using the patient monitoring device. One or more signal quality metrics are determined based on the one or more acquired signals. A noise condition is detected based on the one or more signal quality metrics, and a determination is made whether the noise condition should be classified as intermittent or persistent. One or more actions are taken based on the classification of detected noise as intermittent or persistent.

System and method of patient monitoring and signal quality analysis

A wearable garment and an arrangement of electrodes configured to measure bioelectrical signals from a patient. The dry electrodes are free from adhesives to hold the electrodes in place on the patient's skin. The arrangement of the electrodes may be configured to limit noise and facilitate accurate signal sensing from the patient even with some amount of relative movement between the electrodes and the patient's skin. The wearable garment may be controllable to change the amount of compression based on the sensed signals from the electrodes, and from other sensors. The garment may maintain a comfortable level of compression until processing circuitry detects a signal of interest, such as a cardiac arrhythmia, irregular respiration, or some other signal. The processing circuitry may cause the wearable garment to increase compression to improve the contact between the electrodes and the patient's skin and improve reception of the measured signals.

A patient monitoring device includes reusable and disposable portions. The disposable portion includes two or more electrodes for coupling to the skin of the patient, a battery, and a first set of electrical contacts. The reusable portion includes a processor, memory, a second set of electrical contacts, and sensing circuitry coupled to the at least two electrodes, wherein the reusable portion is mechanically coupleable to the disposable portion and wherein the reusable portion is electrically coupleable to the disposable portion through the first and second electrical contacts. The sensing circuitry and the processor are powered from the battery through the coupled first and second electrical contacts, and wherein when the reusable portion and the disposable portion are mechanically uncoupled after having been mechanically coupled, the disposable portion is rendered unusable by the process of mechanically uncoupling the reusable portion and the disposable portion.

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a method of monitoring a patient comprising generating an accelerometer signal of a patient via a patient medical device and capturing and sampling the accelerometer signal at a sampling rate that utilizes non-regular timing intervals. Embodiments further describe a patient medical device comprising sensors for monitoring an accelerometer signal of a patient and circuitry for sampling the accelerometer signal at a sampling rate that utilizes non-regular timing intervals. Embodiments also describe a method of processing physiological signals comprising monitoring ECG signals and accelerometer signals of a patient via a patient medical device and capturing an ECG segment and sampling the accelerometer signal at a sampling rate that utilizes non-regular timing intervals.

In one configuration, an adherent device to adhere to a skin of a subject includes a stretchable base layer having an upper side and a lower side and an adhesive coating on the lower side to adhere the base layer to the skin of the subject. The base layer has at least two openings extending therethrough, each of the at least two openings having a size. The adherent device also includes a stretchable covering layer positioned above and adhered to the base layer with an adhesive to define at least two pockets. The adherent device also includes at least two gels, each gel having a size larger than the size of openings to retain the gel substantially within the pocket, and a circuit carrier supported with the stretchable base layer to measure at least one physiologic signal of the subject. Methods and devices for monitoring and/or treating patients comprise a switch to automatically start-up the device when the device contacts tissue. By automatically starting up the device, the device may be installed without the clinician and/or user turning on the device, such that the device can be easy to use. In many embodiments, the device comprises startup circuitry with very low current and/or power consumption, for example less than 100 pA. The startup circuitry can detect tissue contact and turn on circuitry that is used to monitor or treat the patient.

An interface device for facilitating transfer of medical information between a patient implantable medical device (PIMD) and a remote network server via public network infrastructure is disclosed, the interface device using any of a plurality of generic network access devices having disparate communication protocols. First communication circuitry is configured to receive medical information from a patient implantable medical device (PIMD), and second communication circuitry configured to effect communication with the first communication circuitry and a generic network access device. A processor is coupled the first communication circuitry and the second communication circuitry. The processor is configured to control transmission of the medical information to the generic network access device and condition the medical device data in compliance with a predetermined medical information regulatory standard governing the PIMD. Various embodiments concern a method which may include communicating medical information between a PIMD and an interface module via a first channel in compliance with a predetermined medical information regulatory standard, preventing access to the PIMD via the interface module other than through the first channel, detecting a communication protocol used by an available generic network access device, selecting a communication protocol rule set from a plurality of communication protocol rule sets to effect communication between the interface device and an available generic network access device of a plurality of generic network access devices, and transferring at least some of the medical information to the remote network via a second channel established between the interface module and the available generic network access device using the selected communication protocol rule set.
