Seating for a telescoping row system or the like includes a chair back and seat mounted to a frame which automatically raises and lowers as the rows are opened and closed respectively. A pair of hinge mechanisms are clamped to the frame at the side of each chair for mounting the seats and backs while permitting them to rotate about a common axis which extends along the intersection of the hip and lumbar region of the occupant. The hinge mechanisms include one spring which normally biases the seat of the chair to the three-quarters fold position when it is unoccupied, but permits it to be lowered for an occupant or moved to the fully raised position for passing. In one embodiment, a second spring biases the back of each chair to the use position when the chair is raised. When the chair is folded for storage, the back and seat are rotated toward each other to a fully closed position. Seat, back and arm rest constructions are also disclosed which are particularly advantageous to telescoping row systems, although not so limited in application.

Beam-mounted folding chairs

A seating system having a number of rows which may be extended for use or retracted for storage is provided with individual chairs. As each row is moved forwardly relative to the next higher row, the chair backs pivot to the upright or use position where they are latched. As each row is moved rearwardly relative to the next higher row, the latches holding the chair backs in the use position are released and the chair backs are engaged by the deck of the next higher row to fold the chair backs downwardly and forwardly to the closed or storage position so that they may be stored in the space between adjacent decks.

Telescoping seating system with automatically folding chairs

A mounting means in a storage cabinet for a free arm sewing machine is shiftable between a storage position, a first working position with the arm of the machine positioned flush with the top of the cabinet for conventional flat bed operation and a second working position wherein the free arm is positioned above the top of the cabinet for access. The mounting includes a pair of hinged members one of which is mounted for pivotal movement within the cabinet. In a first working position the members, folded together, are disposed within the cabinet parallel and below the top of the cabinet. In a second or free arm position, one member is flush with the top of the cabinet while the other is angularly disposed with respect thereto.
