A flow set for administering peritoneal dialysis solution in automated peritoneal dialysis which comprises interconnecting flow conduits for connecting respectively with (1) a patient's catheter, (2) a container for warming dialysis solution, (3) a drain line, and (4) a source of dialysis solution. The flow conduit (4) for connecting with the source of dialysis solution defines at least three branching conduits having connectors on their respective ends for communication with separate containers of dialysis solution. In accordance with this invention, means are provided for causing the flow path resistance through the conduit (4) of the respective flow paths passing through each of said branch conduits to be substantially equal.

Tuned cycler set

Apparatus for disconnecting, sterilizing and making new tubing connection. The apparatus includes electromechanical means for sensing the presence of a clamp to prevent fluid leaks during operation. The apparatus also includes means for forcing compliance with a predetermined sequence of operations. All electronic components are contained in the top of the apparatus to isolate same from any potential fluid leads which will naturally flow over and into the base of the apparatus.

Apparatus for exchanging and irradiating tubing connections

A universal connector for a fluid flow conduit comprises a tubular connector for attachment at one end to the fluid flow conduit and defining a luer taper tube portion at its other end. A sleeve is carried by and surrounding the tubular connector in relatively rotatable relation thereto. The sleeve defines internal threads for threaded locking connection with another connector. A tubular member having external threads at one end is locked by said external thread in removable threaded locking connection with the internal threads. The tubular member defines at its other end an aperture for sealingly receiving a spike connector.

Universal connector

Automated peritoneal dialysis apparatus for providing dialysis solution to a patient and including bracket means for receiving and holding a multiple junction connector of a flexible conduit set member carried by the apparatus. The bracket means is adapted to hold the multiple junction connector in only a single position of orientation whereby flexible conduits of the set member extending from the connector are naturally directed toward their intended destination stations.

Peritoneal dialysis apparatus

An automatic cycler for performing Continuous Cycling Peritoneal Dialysis (CCPD) and Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis (IPD) is provided. The apparatus of the present invention is a safe and convenient cycler apparatus for performing peritoneal dialysis in either home or clinical environment. The apparatus provides a stable base by storing dialysate at a relatively low position. Tubing administration set length is reduced to a minimum by the use of individual, separated valves and by the elimination of redundant, duplicate tube sections. Administration set complexity is reduced by the use of a conventional design dialysate container for heating and weighing of an infusing dialysate dosage. The apparatus allows for gravity feed to a patient with an optional capability of adjusting the pressure head for the gravity feed.

A system is provided for connection of a transfer spike on the end of a tube with another tube, in which the connection portions may be ultraviolet sterilized prior to connection. Both the spike and the tube for connection communicate with a housing member having a tubular, collapsible sheath member which is ultraviolet transparent. Also, a clamping system may be provided for closing flow through the system.

Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis clamping system

There is disclosed herein a dual flow control clamp for use in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis wherein a patient is connected to the source of dialysis solution through a branched flow path. One branch controls flow to the patient and the other branch controls flow from the patient. The clamp provides for selectively controlling flow in one or both flow paths, while never permitting flow simultaneously in both flow paths.

Dual tubing clamp

A motion picture projector having a forward and reverse film transporting drive, an assembly for sensing a predetermined film tension condition and a mode controller for selecting various operational modes is provided with a control for selectively actuating a rewind mode of operation at a predetermined film tension condition. The selectively actuated rewind control arrangement includes a controller conditioner mechanism that is responsive to film tension and effective to position the controller from a predetermined projector operating mode such as a normal forward mode to a predetermined operating mode such as still when the predetermined film tension condition is sensed. A rewind mode actuator mechanism responsive to the controller conditioner mechanism is provided to control the film transporting drive in the rewind mode upon the operation of the controller conditioner mechanism. The rewind mode actuator mechanism in one arrangement includes a translating member for converting a linear displacement of the controller conditioning mechanism to a rotational movement which is connected to rotate a coupling rod carrying a displacing actuator. The displacing actuator displaces a reverse drive actuator in the film transporting assembly to condition it in a rewind mode.

Projector auto rewind mechanism

A drive control mechanism for selectively actuating a motion picture projector to several operational modes to transport film between a supply device and a take-up device is provided that utilizes a brake mechanism to stabilize a selective driving assembly and to prevent film spillage. The drive control mechanism is provided with a mode controller that translates various positions into predetermined axial and rotational positions and movements that is coupled through actuating members to control a dual clutch assembly driven by a unidirectional input. A brake assembly control device is also coupled to the mode controller and conditions the operation of the brake assembly. The brake assembly is a pivotally operated dual brake shoe arrangement which is pivoted into operative contact with the dual clutch assembly wherein the brake shoe arrangement is selectively operated in and between predetermined operational modes as the brake assembly control device is axially shifted and rotated in response to the mode controller.

Drive control apparatus for motion picture projector

A motion picture projector is provided with a manually shiftable mode controller assembly for selecting various operational modes and apparatus for the automatic threading and rewinding of film. The operative mechanical components of the projector are mounted on a unitarily molded housing including molded structures and portions that independently and cooperatively with other control assemblies and interfitting structures provide features and improved operational characteristics. The molded housing interfits with a take-up reel cover, a control assembly cover and a rear cover that rotatably engages a carrying handle. Structure to define a film path, an automatic threading assist structure, a film speed detent structure and a position defining structure for the mode controller assembly are also provided by and integrally molded with the housing.
