A method and system for controlling access to computer resources of a computer data center. A received request to manage an initial service request targets one computer resource and in response: (i) the initial service request is mapped to standard operating procedures pertaining to the one computer resource; (ii) it is determined, based on the standard operating procedures, that additional service requests are to be spawned to service the initial service request and in response, additional service requests are spawned; (iii) the initial service request and the spawned additional service requests are correlated to the one computer resource; and (iv) for each service request (SR) of the initial service request and the spawned additional service requests, the user is granted the requested access of the one computer resource to enable the user to execute the SR, based on selection criteria for selecting a user to execute the SR.

Access management for controlling access to computer resources

A computer system to control access to computer resources of a computer data center. The computer system includes processors and program instructions stored on one or more computer-readable storage devices of the computer system. The stored program instructions include: (i) program instructions to determine that a request to access one of the computer resources is in response to a service request pertaining to the one computer resource targeted by the service request; and (ii) program instructions, responsive to the determination, to map the service request to one or more standard operating procedures to enable information embedded in the one or more standard operating procedures to be used to process the service request, assign a user to execute the service request, and grant the user the requested access of the one computer resource to enable the user to execute the service request.

Method and apparatus are disclosed for managing access to a plurality of resources including host servers where selected ones of the host servers provide at least one application accessible to users across a network. The apparatus comprises a session manager and a request manager. The session manager couples to the resources for managing sessions for administrative and non-administrative ones of the users including login, authentication and logout to selected ones of the plurality of resources. The request manager couples to the session manager to condition access for administrative ones of the users on access request records each including a target resource among the plurality of resources and a time of access to the at least one target resource.

Method and apparatus for access management

Delegating resource management to customers in a technology outsourcing environment includes providing the customer with a secured user interface (e.g., HTML pages) for selecting one or more parameters (e.g., User Ids, application name and version, etc.) associated with a resource management task (e.g., password management). The parameters are used to automatically perform the task using a centralized identity management system and repository for storing and updating data, such as data associated with customers, User Ids, environments, applications and application versions. Such a system and method enables the delegation of resource management tasks across multiple environments hosting disparate hardware and software platforms, including multiple versions of applications.

An asset manager coupled to host servers and a network, manages the host servers and software to determine the demand for new assets and allocate available assets to meet the demand; determine assets not in compliance with existing software licenses; determine and compare actual service level metrics with the target service level metrics; and determine availability of a patch or upgrade for selected software and instances of the selected software among the assets. The asset manager may be coupled to other managers, e.g., contract, product, work and/or accounting managers, to monitor service level metrics and/or costs.

A digital bus circuit having an Address/Data port select decoder 170 in circuit communication with a Selector 194, a Data Port Buffer/Register 181, and an Address Port register 208. This invention relates to personal computers, and more particularly to a personal computer system having an Input/Output (I/O) controller which imparts flexibility to the system design and operation. The I/O controller has a plurality of segments. A first segment provides a serial port for exchange of data signals; a second segment provides a parallel port for exchange of data signals; and a third segment provides a selectable interface for connection with a selected one of said option bus and said planar I/O bus. The third segment has a signal line for transmission of a feedback signal indicative of a readiness for transfer of data signals through one of said first and second segments.
