A method and circuit for detecting and removing chrominance signal components from the luminance channel of a television receiver is shown. The luminance channel is separated into distinct subchannels, one of which has a filter providing attenuation at the chrominance subcarrier frequency. A detection circuit operates to select the output of the filtered subchannel whenever a chrominance subcarrier signal appears in the luminance channel. The detection circuit is sensitive to the phase relationship between the chrominance signal and a portion of the luminance signal and is therefore substantially immune to signals other than chrominance subcarriers, including high frequency components of the luminance signal.

A blanking circuit for providing blanking pulses to a video system for a television receiver is disclosed. The blanking circuit is particularly adapted for fabrication in integrated circuit form and can advantageously be incorporated in an integrated circuit video processing system. The blanking circuit is adapted to receive retrace pulses of either polarity.

A noise suppression circuit for suppressing or cancelling noise pulses in a composite video signal coupled to television receiver synchronizing pulse separator and automatic gain control circuits is shown. Noise pulses in the video signal exceeding the amplitude of the synchronizing pulses are detected. The detected noise pulses are direct current coupled to the synchronizing pulse separator circuit and alternating current coupled to the automatic gain control circuit to inhibit hang-up of the automatic gain control system. The reference level for detecting the noise pulses is gated to inhibit detection of synchronizing pulses. The noise detecting reference level is also derived from the automatic gain control reference level.

In a cathode ray tube display system having a horizontal deflection circuit which includes a horizontal deflection yoke and an 'S' curve correction charge storage means, a dynamic damper circuit shunts the 'S' correction charge storage means and includes a series connected charge storage means and a unidirectional conduction device shunted by an impedance whereby the dynamic damper circuit compensates for variations in potential at the 'S' curve correction charge storage means due to intermittent load changes.
