Probe assembly includes an ultrasound probe and a cable assembly configured to communicatively couple the ultrasound probe to a control system and transmit signals therethrough. The cable assembly includes a cable jacket surrounding a channel of the cable assembly. The cable assembly also includes a plurality of wire pairs extending through the channel. The channel being sized and shaped to permit the wire pairs to move relative to one another within the channel when the probe assembly is moved. The wire pairs and the channel are configured to have a designated pack ratio (Area/Area). The Areaincludes a collective cross-sectional area of the wire pairs, and the Areais equal to a cross-sectional area of the channel.

Sensor assembly includes a modular device and a cable assembly configured to communicatively couple the modular device and a control system and transmit digital signals therethrough. The cable assembly includes a cable jacket surrounding a channel and a twisted pair extending through the channel. The coated twisted pair includes first and second signal wires that each include a respective signal conductor and an insulation layer that surrounds the respective signal conductor. The coated twisted pair also includes a ground conductor. The first and second signal wires are twisted about one another. A twist exterior is defined by corresponding exterior surfaces of the first and second signal wires and the ground conductor. The twist exterior is coated with a conductive material.

A cable assembly includes a plurality of wires. Each wire has a first end, intermediate section, and a second end. The intermediate sections of the respective wires are detached from each other. A conductive shield surrounds the respective intermediate sections of the plurality of wires. Each wire includes a conductor, an insulating layer that surrounds the conductor, and a conductive coating formed on an outside surface of the insulating layer.

A cable assembly has a number of wires each having a central conductor and a surrounding insulating layer. The insulation is removed from the wires at the pig tail. The insulation may be removed by dipping the pigtail in a high temperature solder bath.

Flexible interconnect cable with insulated shield and method of manufacturing

A cable includes a number of wires. Each of the wires has a number of signal conductors encompassed by a dielectric sheath, and the sheath is encompassed by a conductive shield. The wires are arranged side-by-side in a row at an end of each wire, where a termination element is connected. The termination element has opposed major faces, with an array of first contacts on a first face, and an array of second contacts on the opposed face, each of the first contact being electrically connected to a corresponding second contact. Each of the signal conductors of the wire elements is connected to a corresponding one of the first contacts. The signal conductors may be a pair of wires arranged in parallel, so that all signal conductors are in a common plane.

Flexible high-impedance interconnect cable having unshielded wires

A flexible interconnect cable is manufactured by a method that includes providing a core, and wrapping a conductive shield element about the core. An insulating sheath layer is extruded about the core to encompass the shield element, and a multi-wire cable component having ribbonized ends and detached intermediate portions is connected to an end of the core. The core is removed from the sheath to insert the cable component into the sheath. The resulting assembly has intermediate portions of the cable component that are loosely received within the shield and sheath.

An ultrasound imaging probe assembly (3) has articulation control cables (4) and a rotating cable (6) enclosed by sheaths (16) in a signal transmitting cable (40), and the sheaths (16) extend inside a portion of the cable (40) to contain insulated wires (51) that supply power to reversible motors (10, 10a) that drive the cables (4 and 6).
