A system for monitoring performance of an aircraft windshield includes a sensor comprising a sensory contact and an evaluation unit. The sensory contact is in physical contact with one or more components of the windshield, and generates a signal representative of the performance of the component(s) of the windshield. An electrical connector is secured to the surface of the windshield facing the interior of the aircraft. The signal from the sensory contact passes through the connector to the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit acts on the signal to determine the performance of the component(s) of the windshield, wherein the evaluation unit is spaced from and out of physical contact with the windshield and the electrical connector, and is in electrical contact with the electrical connector.

A multimedia controller apparatus provides for computer programmed volume control and summing of audio signals in an enhanced multimedia environment. The apparatus is capable of receiving and processing inputs from a CD-ROM FM synthesizer, general MIDI audio, microphone, PCM sampled sound, and telephony systems. From these inputs, it produces outputs for PCM sampled sound, telephony systems, and stereo line-out. Additionally, it provides for the integration of telephonic support functions into a multimedia system. The multimedia controller apparatus comprises a volume control portion for receiving and controlling the volume of a plurality of analog input signals. The volume controlled input signals are then combined by an aggregation portion. A telephony processing portion is also provided for processing the telephony input signals. Stereo outputs, mono outputs, digital samplable outputs, and telephony outputs can be formed from the combined analog and telephony signals by an output portion. To control the volume control portion, the processing portion, and the output portion, a data control portion is provided which responds to externally generated control data.

A novel aluminum alloy brazing composition is provided consisting of a core alloy consisting of a core alloy and a cladding on at least one side of the core alloy and wherein the core alloy consists essentially of manganese from about 0.8 to about 1.5%, silicon from about 0.45 to about 0.75%, titanium from about 0.03 to about 0.1%, a combined magnesium, copper and zinc content not in excess of about 0.15%, an iron content not in excess of about 0.3%, the total quantity of other impurities not exceeding about 0.15%, balance aluminum; and wherein the cladding consists of an AA 4XXX series aluminum alloy. The aluminum alloy brazing composition can be employed in the brazing of evaporators such as plate-fin evaporators utilized in the automotive field.

The fillet-forming ability of brazeable aluminum alloy materials, such as brazing sheet or heat exchanger components, for example fins, tubes and headers, is significantly improved by treating the material, prior to brazing, with an aqueous acid solution containing a dilute mixture of HF and HNO.sub.3. The treatment generally takes place for a period of not less than 5 seconds within the temperature range from about 15 to about 98.degree. C.

Method for improving the fillet-forming capability of aluminum vacuum

An improved lamp control process and assembly are provided to automatically and efficiently heat objects, such as plates of hot cooked food upon a counter in a restaurant. The lamp control assembly preferably includes heating lamps or heating elements, a photoelectric sensor or other sensor, a power control circuit, and a time delay circuit to slowly turn off the lamps when the plates of food are removed from the counter. Other loads can be controlled similarly.

Lamp control process for warming food

A system for measuring the potential between a working electrode in a pressurized, high temperature environment containing a solution which supports electrolytic conduction and a reference electrode is disclosed herein. This system utilizes an external reference electrode assembly which includes a particular technique of balancing its own internal pressure with the pressure in the high temperature environment in order to eliminate streaming potentials between the working electrode and the reference electrode. This assembly also includes a technique for maintaining the concentration of electrolytic solution at a substantially fixed and uniform level so as to maintain a fixed thermal liquid junction.
