An ultrasound probe () is disclosed comprising a plurality of transducer elements () within a housing () and arranged proximal to a subject contact surface () of the probe; a plurality of individually addressable light sources () mounted in said housing, each of said individually addressable light sources indicating a position of a subset of the plurality of transducer elements relative to said subject contact surface; and a controller () arranged to control said plurality of individually addressable light sources in response to a light source selection signal from an ultrasound user console (). Also disclosed is such an ultrasound user console (), an ultrasound imaging system () comprising the ultrasound probe () and the ultrasound user console () as well as a method () of marking the location of an anatomical feature () within a subject with such an ultrasound imaging system ().

Ultrasound probe, user console, system and method

An ultrasound imaging system is for determining stroke volume and/or cardiac output. The imaging system may include a transducer unit for acquiring ultrasound data of a heart of a subject (or an input for receiving the acquired ultrasound data), and a controller. The controller is adapted to implement a two-step procedure, the first step being an initial assessment step, and the second being an imaging step having two possible modes depending upon the outcome of the assessment. In the initial assessment procedure, it is determined whether regurgitant ventricular flow is present. This is performed using Doppler processing techniques applied to an initial ultrasound data set. If regurgitant flow does not exist, stroke volume is determined using segmentation of 3D ultrasound image data to identify and measure the volume of the left or right ventricle at each of end systole and end-diastole, the difference between them giving a measure of stroke volume. If regurgitant flow does exist, stroke volume is determined using Doppler techniques applied to ultrasound data continuously collected throughout a cardiac cycle.

Ultrasound imaging system and method

Various methods and apparatus disclosed herein relate to apparatus and techniques for harvesting energy from operation of a syringe, and utilizing that energy for various purposes. In various embodiments, a method () for harvesting and using electrical energy during operation of a syringe () may include: operating () the syringe, wherein operating includes displacing a plunger () of the syringe to draw fluid into a reservoir () of the syringe or expel fluid from the reservoir of the syringe; converting (), by an electrical generator () that is integral with the syringe, motion associated with displacing the plunger into electrical energy; and using () at least some of the electrical energy to at least temporarily store, in a memory component () integral with the syringe, one or more data points associated with operation of the syringe.

Harvesting energy from operation of a syringe

Various methods and apparatus disclosed herein relate to apparatus and techniques for harvesting energy from operation of a pill pack, and utilizing that energy for various purposes. In various embodiments, an energy harvesting apparatus configured to receive a pill pack () is disclosed. An energy harvesting apparatus in accordance with various embodiment may include a housing (), where the housing is configured to receive a pill pack (), and an electrical generator incorporated into the housing (), where the electrical generator converts motion associated with compression of at least one blister () of the pill pack () expelling one or more pills () from the pill pack into electrical energy, where the electrical energy is used to collect one or more data points associated with operation of the pill pack during the expelling of the one or more pills.
