A transparent pane assembly including a transparent pane, an antenna and an electromagnetic connector assembly. The transparent pane includes first and second layers made of a dielectric substrate, and the second layer includes opposite first and second faces. The antenna is disposed between the first and second layers, and is attached to the first face. The electromagnetic connector assembly includes a metal bonding pad, a coaxial connector, and a printed circuit board. The bonding pad is adhered to the second face and aligned to a feed portion of the antenna for electromagnetic coupling. The circuit board includes opposite first and second sides and an electrically conductive trace carried by the second side. The coaxial connector is electrically connected to the PCB at the second side, and the electrically conductive trace is in electrical contact with the metal bonding pad.

Transparent pane assembly with integrated antenna system

An arrangement of MIMO antennas in a vehicle, such as an automobile, where at least one of the MIMO antennas is placed inside the vehicle in the richer multipath signal propagation environment. The MIMO antennas will include a primary MIMO antenna that may also be used for non-4G cellular services and one or more secondary MIMO antennas that are used only for 4G cellular services. In one embodiment, the primary MIMO antenna is mounted to a roof of the vehicle in a module including other antennas and the one or more secondary antennas are positioned at desired locations within the vehicle. In another embodiment, the primary MIMO antenna and the one or more secondary MIMO antennas are all positioned within the vehicle.

Method of maximizing MIMO throughput by placing antennas in a vehicle

An antenna includes a CPW transmission line and a radiating portion. The radiating portion is coupled to the CPW transmission line and is substantially coplanar with the CPW transmission line. The radiating portion is configured to produce a first linear polarization at a first frequency, a circular polarization at a second frequency, and a second linear polarization at a third frequency. The radiating portion includes a conductive material extending from the CPW transmission line and forming a plurality of openings in the radiating portion. The openings are asymmetric with respect to a first region of the radiating portion that is disposed on a first side of the CPW transmission line and a second region of the radiating portion that is disposed on a second side of the CPW transmission line.
