An administrator can use an administrative-wireless-device to control a target wireless device using an SMS message to convey a command. The data of the command message can be encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The encrypted data may include a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device, and a time stamp memorializing command or message creation. Before executing the command, however, the target device compares the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the administrative-wireless-device.

System and method for controlling devices using short message service

A messaging system supports a presentation session with participants of the presentation, a presenter and one or more audience members. The message system allows the participants to share messages and documents via respective client/mobile devices. An application on each mobile device allows the audience member to peruse and comment on document portions (e.g., pages, images, or slides) being presented. The presentation sequence for the document portions can be managed by the presenter, or document perusal can be decoupled from the presentation sequence to allow audience members to focus on past or future document portions. Comments of the audience member or other participants can be linked to corresponding document portions. A user may repeat, reprise or continue a past presentation.

The target device can also consider an embedded time stamp to determine whether the lost-device command has been superseded.

A system for scoring shooting sports includes an adapter that attaches an optical device to a mobile computer programmed to support scoring, analysis, and coaching. The mobile computer includes an image detector to sample images of a target, the images including pre-launch image data sampled before a projectile is launched at the target and post-launch image data sampled after the projectile is launched at the target. The system includes an accelerometer to detect projectile launches and thus distinguish pre-launch and post-launch image data. The mobile computer compares the pre-launch image data and the post-launch image data to locate a point of impact of the projectile on the target. A user interface on the mobile computer indicates the point of impact to the shooter.

Described are circuits and methods for aligning data and clock signals. Circuits in accordance with some embodiments separate incoming data into three differently timed data signals: an early signal, an intermediate signal, and a late signal. The timing of the three data signals can be collectively moved with respect to the clock signal. In addition, the temporal spacing between the three signals can be adjusted so that the early and late signals define a window encompassing the intermediate signal. The three signals are aligned with respect to the clock edge to center the intermediate data signal on the clock edge. The early and late signals can be monitored to identify changes in the relative timing of the clock and data signals. Some embodiments automatically alter the timing of the data and/or clock signals to keep the intermediate data signal centered on the clock edge.
