Anti-jackknifing apparatus for combination with conventional tractor-drawn trailers wherein the tractor includes a forward operator's cab and a rearward fifth wheel assembly having a skid-plate. The skid-plate conventionally includes a pair of longitudinally rearwardly extending guide-lugs having outward-sides and also inward-sides horizontally angularly converging toward an upright kingpin or other pivotal association with the trailer. The anti-jackknifing apparatus comprises a generally horizontal longitudinally extending ram terminating as a forward head-end, which ram and head-end has an inactive normal-station and also an anti-jackknifing extended-station respectively located rearwardly remote from and toward the skid-plate. A header is rigidly attached to the ram head-end and carries a pair of forwardly extending arms and preferably also a medial tongue which at ram forward extended-station abut an outward-side and an inward-side, respectively, of the guide-lugs to avert a potential jackknifing panic situation.

Trailer anti-jackknifing apparatus

Disclosed herein is a portable pipe wrench comprising a relatively stationary main frame including a rearwardly extending elongate handle and a forwardly disposed power train having a pair of roughened spurs for securely engaging and rotating a pipe segment and a nipple which is powerably actuatable by a suitable external torque-producing driver means. The portable pipe wrench also comprises a relatively movable jaw member slidably associated with the frame member and including a pair of idler wheels cooperating with the two spurs to rotatably manipulate the securely engaged pipe and further comprises a locking-adjusting assembly for the movable jaw relative to the main frame and the pipe. The main frame, the movable jaw, and the locking-adjusting assembly include several novel features which facilitate the task of securely engageably grasping and rotating the threaded pipe segment.

Portable and powerably actuatable pipe wrench

Anti-jackknifing apparatus for combination with conventional tractor-drawn trailers wherein the tractor includes a forwardly disposed operator's cab and a rearwardly disposed fifth wheel assembly having a skid-plate. The skid-plate conventionally includes a pair of longitudinally rearwardly extending guide-lugs having therebetween a V-slot horizontally converging toward an upright kingpin or other pivotal association with the trailer. The anti-jackknifing apparatus comprises a generally horizontal longitudinally extending restraining-tongue terminating as a forward head-part, which head-part has an inactive normal-station and also an anti-jackknifing extended-station respectively located remote from and abuttably within the skid-plate V-slot during a potentially jackknifing panic situation. The restraining-tongue head-part is actuatably reciprocated between normal-station and extended-station and remotely controlled from the tractor operator's cab during a potentially jackknifing panic situation, and especially at extended-station the restraining-tongue is stationarily rigidly associated with the trailer underside.
