This disclose relates to a robust method for automatic real-time monitoring or post-job evaluation of hydraulic fracturing operations based on predictive deconvolution of the wellhead pressure oscillations. Described are a method and system for determining depth of wellbore reflectors, implemented by performing a wellbore operation producing a pressure wave and its reflections from the wellbore reflectors; registering a pressure wave and its reflections; preprocessing the registered pressure wave and its reflections with a bandwidth filter; transforming the registered pressure wave and its reflections from the frequency domain into time-frequency representation with Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT); applying of a predictive deconvolution filter to STFT representation; identifying of a reflected signal on a plot in coordinates 'reflection time—physical time' and determining the reflection time for the signal reflected from the wellbore reflector; determining the depth of wellbore reflector by multiplying the reflection time by pressure wave speed.

Method of determining depths of wellbore reflectors

The position of a droppable object (e.g., a cementing plug or drillpipe dart) in a cased wellbore may be determined in real time during a cementing operation. A pressure data acquisition system is installed at a wellsite and a pressure transducer is installed at the cementing head. As the droppable object travels through casing it encounters regions with a positive or a negative change of inner cross-sectional dimension. The droppable object generates a pressure pulse as it passes through the regions. The pressure pulse and associated reflections are detected by the pressure transducer, and the signals are processed mathematically by a Kalman filter to determine the current position of the droppable object.

Methods for determining a position of a droppable object in a wellbore

The position of a droppable object (e.g., a cementing plug or drillpipe dart) in a cased wellbore may be determined in real time during a cementing operation. A pressure data acquisition system is installed at a wellsite and a pressure transducer is installed at the wellhead. As the droppable object travels through casing it encounters regions with a positive or a negative change of inner cross-sectional dimension. The droppable object generates a pressure pulse as it passes through the regions. The present disclosure relates to a method and system for monitoring a wellbore object using a reflected pressure signal. The method discloses providing at least one pump for performing hydraulic fracturing or a source of hydraulic pulse so that pressure signal propagates along the wellbore and reflects from the borehole objects; providing pressure sensor at wellhead; preprocessing of registered reflected pressure signal and pump noise; transforming the registered reflected pressure signal and pump noise from the frequency domain into time-frequency representation with Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT), computing a pump noise mask; applying the pump noise mask to the STFT representation to obtain a filtered reflected pressure signal; processing of the filtered reflected pressure signal for determining the reflection time from the downhole object, calculating the depth of the downhole object from reflected pressure signal by multiplying of the reflection time by the pressure signal propagation velocity. This method allows to perform wellbore monitoring without stop of current operations.

Method and system for monitoring a wellbore object using a reflected pressure signal

A method is offered to predict and prevent the event of fracture hit (direct fluid communication) between a parent well and a child (active) well. The growth of a child well creates 3D stress field in the vicinity of a parent well. The growth of a child well is simulated using the geomechanic-transport model. A model of interaction between the child well and parent well is provided. The simulations for different job designs create a set of pressure scenario in the parent both for the cases with and without fracture hit (fracture hit catalogue). Comparison (matching) of actual pressure data in the parent and child well with the pre-calculated pressure scenarios indicate the risk of fracture development with a fracture hit, which means a stop in fracturing stimulation.

Method of predicting and preventing an event of fracture hit

The proposed method relates to hydrocarbon production, particularly to the monitoring of well operations by way of data analysis based on the cepstral analysis of the well pressure data recorded at the wellhead. The method assumes the detection of a hydraulic signal-reflecting object in the well, wherein: a fluid-filled well is provided with fluid enabling propagation of a hydraulic signal; a hydraulic signal source is provided, said source being in fluid communication with the well and designed to generate a hydraulic signal; a pressure sensor is provided, said pressure sensor records the hydraulic signal and being in fluid communication with the well and at least one hydraulic signal source. The hydraulic signal is recorded with the pressure sensor during well operations, and a pressure cepstrogram is obtained and an intense signal is found on the pressure cepstrogram. Then the position of object reflecting the hydraulic signal is detected in the well. A system is proposed for constructing a pressure cepstrogram and detecting a downhole object.

Method and system for detection of objects in a well reflecting hydraulic signal

The present disclosure relates to the hydrocarbon production, in particular to measuring the fracture closure pressure in a formation penetrated by a wellbore using marker agents. According to this disclosure, a wellbore is provided; a clean fracturing fluid is injected into the wellbore thus creating a fracture in the formation; the fracturing fluid is injected into the well, wherein the fracturing fluid comprises a mixture of a proppant and one or more groups of capsules with the predetermined range of breaking strength values and comprising a marker agent that corresponds to each predetermined range of breaking strength values, wherein capsules of different groups comprise different marker agents and are designed to precipitate in the fracture and release the marker agent in case the fracture closure pressure exceeds the predetermined range of breaking strength values due to fracture closure; the marker agent production to the surface is provided; the marker agent is detected at the surface; and the fracture closure pressure is measured based on the detected marker agent based on the breaking strength range of the capsule in the corresponding group of capsules.

Method of monitoring of hydraulic fracture closure stress with tracers (variants)

A method of real time diagnostic of fracture operations with combination of tube waves and microseismic monitoring, comprising performing a fracture in a wellbore, recording microseismic activity generated during the fracturing operations. Determining of microseismic event locations, generating low frequency pressure waves (tube waves) near the wellbore, recording of tube waves reflections from the fractures in real time and analyzing microseismic event locations and tube waves reflections from the fractures.

Method of real time diagnostic of fracture operations with combination of tube waves and microseismic monitoring

A system and method for mitigating dust migration at a wellsite is described. An oilfield material reservoir is provided for receiving oilfield material, the oilfield material reservoir having an enclosure. A dust collector is provided for collecting dust generated at the oilfield material reservoir, and a duct in communication with the enclosure and the dust collector is provided for transferring dust generated at the oilfield material reservoir to the dust collector.
