The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for executed stored procedures at parallel databases. Stored procedures are transformed so that execution of the stored procedure is split between a standalone database server and a parallel database coordinator. Execution of the stored procedure is initiated at the standalone database server. At execution time, control-flow statements, variable assignment, expression evaluation, etc., are handled by the standalone database server. SQL statements are passed from the standalone database server to the database for the execution. Results from executed SQL statements can be returned to the standalone database server or to a client. The parallel database coordinator can be added as a linked server to the standalone database server. In some embodiments, a session token is used to share session state between different parties.

Executing stored procedures at parallel databases

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for monitoring the health of distributed systems. Embodiments of the invention provide distributed, self-maintained, continuous health monitoring. Using XML and pluggable infrastructure, a logical view of an appliance can be provided. The logical view abstracts physical implementation details of the appliance. Monitoring agents can correlate different distributed system failures and events and reason over collected health information.

Monitoring the health of distributed systems

Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to injecting faults into programs for testing. In aspects, a program is instrumented with instrumentation points. A request that an exception be raised at an instrumentation point is received. In response, a sink is configured to listen for the event associated with the instrumentation point. The sink is further configured to cause the exception to be raised to the program in response to receiving the event. The exception may be raised without modifying code of the program.

Injecting faults into program for testing software

The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates integrating two or more applications for secure sharing of data. A line of business (LOB) system can include a portion of metadata associated with a business application. An adapter can employ a dynamic service contract to the LOB system, wherein the service contract is a fluid contract constructed in real time from a portion of metadata selected within the LOB system. Moreover, the adapter can enable a client to access the portion of metadata selected via the service contract.
