This application describes a compact grinder that allows scooping particulate material to be ground (such as coffee beans), grinding the material to a controlled and consistent size, while concurrently emitting the stream of grinds directly into a receptacle, such as a coffee filter or the receptacle for an automatic coffee maker. The scoop portion of the grinder is sized to fit into the standard bags used for whole bean packaging, eliminating the need for a separate storage vessel or the need to pour the beans from their bag into the grinder. It has calibrated markings within the scoop, eliminating the need for a separate measuring device.

Compact grinder

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a workstation or other heavy object which is easily moved, yet steady and stable when parked. Underneath this object is attached a multiple air-bearing device having a backplate, a membrane which is selectively bonded to the backplate, and a stencil and dimple which further prevent separation of the membrane from the backplate and which also provide a bearing surface for the workstation to rest with stability against the floor. Pressurized air is introduced through the base and behind the unbonded portions of the membrane, inflating the membrane and creating lift, and additionally forming a pneumatic seal against the floor. Air passages through the membrane and within the sealed footprint allow air to flow into and through the region between the membrane and the floor, creating an air-lubricated bearing that allows nearly frictionless motion of the heavy object.

Air bearing base and workstation

A paper cutter utilizing a lamp to illuminate a cutline scored into a transparent plastic surface located below directly below the paper to be cut. The silhouette of the cutline acts as the guideline for placement of the cutting blade of the paper cutter to thereby create the exact line of cut. A dual blade rotary cutter is also provided in a paper cutter with a toggle arrangement located on the carriage assembly which allows the user of the cutter to selectively engage one or the other of the blades to engage the cutter.

An improved probe includes a conductive tubular housing or body containing a coil spring and a conductive plunger movable in the housing and having a contact tip outwardly extending from one end of the housing. The plunger and tip are urged to a normally outward position by the bias force of the spring. The opposite end of the housing has an opening for mating with a conductive pin of a connector. The connector is retained in a mounting plate of an associated fixture and has terminal ends of desired configuration. The terminal end may include a wire-wrap pin, a crimp type terminal or wire jack for attachment to a wire, or the terminal may include a spring loaded pin for engagement with an associated electrical contact. An air tight seal may be provided between the probe and the connector and the connector may be mounted in a mounting such that when vacuum is applied to an associated test fixture, air cannot be drawn through the fixture or through the body of the probe.
