Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for selecting an Augmented Reality (AR) object on a head mounted device (HMD) are presented. In some embodiments, an HMD may define a Region-of-Interest (ROI) based on a gesture formed by at least one hand of a user. Subsequently the HMD may display to the user a shape on the HMD. In at least one arrangement, the shape outlines the ROI. Additionally, the HMD may display to the user a plurality of AR objects, each of the plurality of AR objects being associated with a target inside the ROI. Furthermore, the HMD may reduce the size of the ROI based on a first movement of the at least one hand of the user to form a reduced-sized ROI. In at least one arrangement, the reduced-sized ROI is used to select a specific AR object from the plurality of AR objects.

A method comprising receiving subject data indicative of a subject entity and selecting, from a plurality of data sets, and based on the subject data, a subject entity data set which corresponds to the subject entity. The subject entity data set comprises first related entity data representative of a first related entity related to the subject entity and first text data representative of first text associated with the first related entity. Unstructured text data representative of unstructured text is received and processed, using the first text data, to identify a portion of the unstructured text data corresponding to the first text data. The first text data is used to identify, from the subject entity data set, the first related entity data and the portion of the unstructured text data is identified as corresponding to the first related entity data.

Subject-specific data set for named entity resolution

A query parsing system uses a multi-stage process to parse the text of incoming queries before attempting to answer the queries. The multi-stage configuration involves a first trained classifier to determine the query type, or intent, of the text and a plurality of second trained classifiers, where each of the second trained classifiers is configured particularly for one specific respective query type. During query processing, the first trained classifier is used on the text to identify the query type. A second trained classifier for that specific identified query type is then found and used on the text to identify what strings in the text correspond to specific entities needed to resolve the query. The identified text strings and query type are then placed into a form understandable by a knowledge base and sent to the knowledge base for resolution. The classifiers may be trained using queries and answers previously processed by the knowledge base using a rules/template resolution process.

A method comprising receiving subject data indicative of a subject entity. First entity data is obtained from a knowledge database using the subject data, the first entity data representative of a first related entity related to the subject entity. First text data is obtained from the knowledge database using the first entity data, the first text data representative of first text associated with the first related entity. A subject entity data set is generated. The subject entity data set comprises first related entity data based on the first entity data, and the first text data.

A method for temperature mitigation includes receiving a signal from a temperature sensor that is disposed within a computing device. A processor chip within the computing device produces heat. The signal from the temperature sensor is converted to temperature data. The method further includes processing the temperature data to generate an estimate of a temperature of an external surface of the device. The processing includes applying a low pass filter to the temperature data, applying an amplitude attenuation to the temperature data, and applying a delay to the temperature data. The method further includes reducing an operating parameter of the processor chip, such as operating frequency, in response to the estimated temperature of the external surface of the device.

Circuits and methods providing temperature mitigation for computing devices using estimated skin temperature

A voice-controlled question answering system that uses both a knowledge base and a detailed index of other sources that may be accessible over the Internet. The knowledge base is used to answer questions of more general interest whose answers are contained in the knowledge base. The index is used to answer more complex questions that are not answerable using the knowledge base. Web and other sources are analyzed to create the index, where text segments are indexed along with data describing the text segments in a quasi-semantic way. Quasi-semantic features are extracted from incoming spoken questions and used, along with machine learning trained models, to identify an indexed text segment that includes the answer to the question. The text segment may then be rearranged or simply passed to a speech synthesizer so the answer may be spoken aloud to a user.

In one embodiment, a method of temperature control comprises receiving temperature readings from a temperature sensor on a chip, calculating one or more second derivatives of temperature with respect to time based on the temperature readings, and determining whether to perform temperature mitigation on the chip based on the one or more calculated second derivatives of temperature.

Systems and methods for detecting thermal runaway

In one embodiment, a temperature management system comprises a plurality of temperature sensors on a chip, and a temperature manager. The temperature manager is configured to receive a plurality of temperature readings from the temperature sensors, to determine a plurality of power values based on the temperature readings, to determine a plurality of temperature values based on the determined power values, the determined temperature values corresponding to a plurality of different locations on the chip, and to estimate a temperature of a hotspot on the chip based on the determined temperature values.

Metal thermal grounds are used for dissipating heat from integrated-circuit resistors. The resistors may be formed using a front end of line layer, for example, a titanium-nitride layer. A metal region (e.g., in a first metal layer) is located over the resistors to form a heat sink. An area of thermal posts connected to the metal region is also located over the resistor. The metal region can be connected to the substrate of the integrated circuit to provide a low impedance thermal path out of the integrated circuit.

The TEC is adapted to dissipate heat from the first die to the second die through the second substrate.

The heat transfer component transfers at least a portion of the captured heat to a wrist band outside the enclosure of the smart watch. The wrist band allows for dissipation of at least a portion of the transferred heat through at least one surface of the wrist band.

Methods and apparatus for implementing a synthetic jet to cool a device are provided. Examples of the techniques keep a device case cool enough to be hand-held, while allowing a higher temperature of a circuit component located in the case, to maximize circuit performance. In an example, provided is a mobile device including a synthetic jet configured to transfer heat within the mobile device. The synthetic jet can be embedded in a circuit board inside the mobile device such that the circuit board defines at least a portion of a chamber of the synthetic jet and defines an orifice of the synthetic jet. The device case can define at least one fluid channel inside the mobile device. Also, the circuit board can define a synthetic jet outlet configured to direct a fluid at the at least one fluid channel. Also provided are methods for controlling a synthetic jet.

Techniques for implementing a synthetic jet to cool a device

Methods and apparatuses of the present disclosure are presented for recognizing a gesture of a gesture object in a plurality of recorded data objects, with the recorded data objects being recorded over time. In some embodiments, a method includes computing at least one set of gesture angles using the plurality of recorded data objects, wherein each of the gesture angles in the at least one set comprises an angle measurement between two positions of the gesture object, the two positions recorded in successive data objects in the plurality of recorded data objects, and recognizing the gesture based on the at least one set of gesture angles. In some embodiments, the method includes recognizing the gesture is based further on comparing the at least one set of gesture angles to a gesture model.
