The ability to control media content play is provided. A media content user interface component that controls playback of the media content in a media player is activated. The component includes a circular progress bar and a progress marker that coincides with the circular progress bar. As the media content plays in the media player, the progress marker moves around the circular progress bar. User input moves the progress marker along the circular progress bar to rewind or fast forward the media content.

Circular video player controls

A method, system, computer program product, and computer readable storage medium provide the ability to control media content play. A media content user interface component that controls playback of the media content in a media player is activated. The component includes a circular progress bar and a progress marker that coincides with the circular progress bar. As the media content plays in the media player, the progress marker moves around the circular progress bar. User input moves the progress marker along the circular progress bar to rewind or fast forward the media content.

Selection of a context-based touch-sensitive icon for control of content presentation via a touch sensitive interface is disclosed. Context can be related to aspect of presented content, user profile information, historical content consumption, human interface data, etc. Context of content can be related to types, ratings, themes, metadata, etc., of content. This can enable selecting an icon that corresponds to the content being presented. Moreover, user profile data can allow more refined icon selection based on parameters that can be based on an entry of data associated with a user. Additionally, historical content consumption can act as a criterion in selecting an icon. Further, user interactions with a human interface can aid in selecting an icon based on patterns indicating aspects such as poor coordination, possible diseases/conditions associated with a user, etc. In an aspect, a caricature an icon designed for children can be selected based on children's content.

Context-based icon for control via a touch sensitive interface

A method, system, computer program product, and computer readable storage medium provide the ability to prevent bypass of advertisement viewing. A media content user interface component (that controls playback of the media content and an advertisement in a media player) is activated. The component includes a circular progress bar and a progress marker that coincides with the circular progress bar. As the media content is playing, the progress marker moves around the circular progress bar reflecting a progress of the playing. At a defined point in the media content, an advertisement is played. User input advances the progress marker along the circular progress bar to fast forward the media content. Upon an attempt to advance the progress marker a defined threshold distance beyond the advertisement, the progress marker is snapped back to the advertisement thereby preventing bypass of viewing the advertisement.

Advertisement viewing bypass prevention user interface component

A method, system, computer program product, and computer readable storage medium provide the ability to bookmark a frame of media content. A media content user interface component that controls playback of the media content in a media player is activated. The component includes a circular progress bar. A frame within the media content is identified and bookmarked. A bookmark is displayed on the circular progress bar and reflects the location of the bookmarked frame. The bookmark is selected to begin play from the bookmarked frame.
