According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a drive assembly, a driver, a needle assembly and a biasing element. The driver is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive assembly. Rotation of the drive assembly in a first direction causes distal translation of the driver with respect to the drive assembly. The needle assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Distal translation of the driver causes a corresponding distal translation of the needle assembly. The biasing element is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the needle assembly and is configured to bias the needle assembly proximally.

Surgical end effectors

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a driver, a clip assembly, a needle assembly, and biasing element. The clip assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Rotation of the driver results in longitudinal translation of the clip assembly. The needle assembly is selectively engaged with the clip assembly. The biasing element is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the needle assembly and is configured to bias the needle assembly proximally.

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a drive assembly, a driver, a needle assembly, and a follower. The drive assembly includes a first helical groove. Rotation of the drive assembly in a first direction causes distal translation of the driver with respect to the drive assembly. The needle assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Distal translation of the driver causes a corresponding distal translation of the needle assembly. The follower is configured to engage the first helical groove of the drive assembly. When the follower is engaged with the first helical groove, rotation of the drive assembly in the first direction causes distal translation of the follower with respect to the drive assembly.

A surgical portal apparatus includes a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end that extends along a longitudinal axis, and a surgical tape. The sleeve includes an inner wall defining an internal longitudinal passageway dimensioned for permitting passage of a surgical object therethrough and an outer wall configured for positioning against tissue. The inner and outer walls define at least a partial annular space therebetween, the annular space being in fluid communication with an opening in the outer wall. The surgical tape includes a body portion retained within the annular space of the sleeve and a leading tab extendable through the opening in the outer wall of the sleeve. The surgical tape has a first surface and a second surface, each of the first and second surfaces having at least one of tissue reactive functional groups and self-reactive functional groups.

Closure tape dispenser

A tissue fixation device includes an elongated body extending between a proximal portion and a distal portion including a plurality of barbed loops. The elongated body, proximal portion, and distal portion are provided in a variety of configurations depending upon the performance requirements desired of the tissue fixation device for the envisaged application of use.

Tissue fixation device

A tissue fixation device includes an elongated body defining a longitudinal axis and including a proximal end and a distal end. At least two barbed segments diverge distally away from the distal end of the elongated body and a pledget is disposed at distal ends of the barbed segments. The elongated body, barbed segments, and pledget are provided in a variety of configurations depending upon the performance requirements desired of the tissue fixation device for the envisaged application of use.

A tissue fixation device includes an elongated body extending between a distal portion including a barbed loop, and a proximal portion including a blunt tip. The elongated body, proximal portion, and distal portion are provided in a variety of configurations depending upon the performance requirements desired of the tissue fixation device for the envisaged application of use.

Biocompatible wound closure devices including an elongate body and a plug member are useful for wound repair.

Wound closure device

Medical devices possessing coatings are provided. The coatings include at least one polyelectrolyte, capable of changing the surface charge of the device to which they are applied. The polyelectrolytes permit attachment of charged bioactive agents thereto. Multiple polyelectrolytes, possessing opposite charges, may be sequentially applied to produce a medical device having multiple layers. Methods for forming such devices are also provided.

Drug eluting medical devices

A closure device for port site closure is provided. The closure device includes an end effector having a top surface and a bottom surface. A stem extends upwardly from a midsection of the top surface of the end effector. The stem has a free end, a distal end, and a middle portion therebetween. An attachment member extends from the distal end of the stem and is fixedly attached to the top surface of the end effector. The attachment member has a width smaller than a width of the distal end. At least one notch is defined by a gap between the distal end of the stem and the top surface of the end effector.

Port site closure

An applicator for use in tissue repair is provided. The applicator includes a base configured to dispense a material and an applicator tip operably connected to the base. The applicator tip includes a body having a distal end configured to engage a tissue defect and a mold disposed about the body configured to engage tissue about the tissue defect. The mold is configured to be selectively positioned about the distal end of the body between at least a first position and a second position to deposit material to form at least a first layer and a second layer. Also provided are applicator tips, methods and kits for tissue repair.

Molds for in situ forming materials

The present disclosure relates to a hydrogel composition and methods of using the same. The hydrogel composition may include precursors that react with each other upon contact as well as precursors that react upon contact with an initiator. In embodiments, the resulting hydrogels may have varying levels of crosslinking with both denser and less dense regions.
