Systems and methods for determining an assignment of radio resources to antennas are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes obtaining an antenna deployment including antennas and corresponding locations for the antennas; determining a cell assignment for the antennas such that each antenna is assigned to one cell out of one or more cells; and, based on the cell assignment, determining a resource assignment for the antennas such that each antenna is assigned to one radio resource out of one or more radio resources. In this way, some embodiments disclosed herein provide a lightweight and efficient method to design a distributed antenna deployment. In some embodiments, the resulting network is optimized in terms of the total area where a high rank is achieved.

Systems and methods for designing a distributed MIMO network

Systems and methods for determining a performance metric for an antenna deployment are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes obtaining the antenna deployment including antennas and corresponding locations for the antennas, a cell assignment for the antennas such that each antenna is assigned to one cell out of one or more cells, and a resource assignment for the antennas such that each antenna is assigned to one radio resource out of one or more radio resources. Based on the antenna deployment, the cell assignment, and the resource assignment, the method determines at least one performance metric of the antenna deployment. In this way, some embodiments disclosed herein provide a lightweight & efficient method to simulate the performance of a MIMO network composed of distributed antennas. In some embodiments, the performance is realized by calculating SINR, Bitrate, and Rank for the network.

Performance simulation of a distributed MIMO antenna system

A method and apparatus are disclosed for steering a UE () from a WLAN () to a cellular network () with an overlapping coverage area. The UE () is connected to the WLAN () through an access point (AP) (). The AP () suppresses the broadcast of a network identifier of the WLAN () and de-authenticates the UE () from the WLAN (). After de-authenticating the UE (), the AP () ignores probe requests from the UE (). The UE () will conclude that the WLAN () is no longer available and will connect to the cellular network. From the perspective of the UE (), the suppression of the network makes it appear to the UE () that it has moved out of range of the AP () so the UE () will not 'blacklist' the WLAN (). The suppression of the network ID will not impact UEs not targeted, which will continue to communicate via WLAN () even when the network ID is suppressed.
