A scanner enables full productivity and individual image size detection, without user intervention for mixed size originals in both simplex and duplex scanning modes. The scanner provides high-productivity single pass scanning while preserving the image size for each of the document scanned. In addition, the scanner may support duplex scanning by adding a second image sensor, for example, in the document handler. Methods of scanning are also provided.

A system and method to provide 180-degree rotation of image data at full throughput. The system includes a memory access controller that writes bursts of image data into a rotation buffer. The image data is then read out of the rotation buffer in the reverse order from which it was written to thereby accomplish rotation. By alternating the position in the rotation buffer in which the image data is written such that an image is either written into the buffer from top and read from the bottom or written into the buffer from the bottom and read out from the top, a one page rotation buffer of can be used to concurrently process two pages.

A system and method are provided for digital correction of a plurality of color channels and color image data. In color reproduction, a color image may be composed of a plurality of superimposed color channels in a color space. In order to assure the proper alignment of color channels and exemplary applications such as color printing, one or more of the plurality of color channels which compose a complete color image may be scaled to an output resolution, and corrected in order to ensure proper alignment and authentic reproduction of a color image. In place of a plurality of independent clocks, one for each channel, a single clock is provided for every channel, and additional unit is supplied to scale each channel according to independent characteristics.

An embodiment generally relates a device for rotating images. The device includes an image memory configured to store an image and a plurality of buffers. The plurality of buffers are configured to interface with the image memory to read data words of the image from the image memory and to write rotated data words to the image memory. The device also includes a logic module configured to interface with the plurality of buffers and to micro-rotate and macro-rotate an image based on a selection of three orientations. The logic module is also configured to execute a read of data words from the image memory to a first buffer of the plurality of buffers, a rotation of a data word, and a write of rotated data words from a second buffer of the plurality of buffers to the image memory substantially simultaneously.

Systems, methods and devices for rotating images

Multiple components of an image produced by an image output device including a raster output scanner are registered by delaying an output high addressable bit stream for a time following each raster start of scan. A multiplicity of error values are added resulting in a total error integer component and a factional component. Following the start of scan, a line sync generator delays for a number of first clock signals proportional to the integer component. After the delay, the line sync generator signals a buffer to input a video input byte. A parallel to serial shift register converts the input video byte into a high addressable bit stream. A delay register further delays the bit stream by the fractional component, which further refines where, along the raster, the bit stream will commence. Suitably, the system corrects for the errors in run time as the fast scan line is scanned.

A system and method for reducing an image by receiving a scaling factor which defines a window. Input pixel intensities of the image are summed in real time as they are input and stored until all pixels within the window have been received. The sum is then divided by the number of pixels within the window which produces an average intensity. A pixel having the average intensity is output.

The present invention is an apparatus for digitally controlling the output of multiple laser diodes in a system that forms a plurality of scan lines in a Raster Output Scanning (ROS) system. A method and apparatus for reproducing high quality images using an electrophotographic printing machine is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention is used to change the location, shape and size of a process control patch. Process control patches may be used to improve the quality of an image prior to printing. The intensity of light reflected from the control patch is measured, and the measurements are used to change parameters such as magnitude of electrostatic charge, and toner concentration, before the latent image developed. Adjusting these parameters at this time will allow the printing apparatus to reproduce images having superior quality than previously available.

A raster output scanner data controller reads pixels of an image from an image memory and outputs serially pixel data streams to a raster output scanner. The data controller includes an image memory storing a plurality of pixel data blocks in a scan line order, an image memory controller coupled to the image memory, a plurality of first-in, first-out memories coupled to the image memory controller for storing pixel data blocks corresponding to a plurality of beams, and an image controller coupled to the plurality of first-in, first-out memories. The pixel data blocks are transferred from the image memory to the plurality of first-in, first-out memories. The image controller reads the pixel data blocks from the plurality of first-in, first-out memories, converts the pixel data blocks read from the plurality of first-in, first-out memories into a plurality of pixel data streams and outputs the plurality of pixel data streams to the raster output scanner.
