A device for measuring properties of a fluid flow includes a pipe having a first pipe section which includes a fluid flow modifying feature for causing a liquid part of the fluid flow to form an annular layer at an inner wall of a second pipe section arranged downstream of the first pipe section, the second pipe section including a near field probe for applying a low frequency signal to the annular layer and a full volume field probe for applying a high frequency signal into the second pipe section, and a third pipe section arranged downstream of the second pipe section, the third pipe section including a resonance enabling element that together with at least the second pipe section provides a resonator which captures parts of the frequency range of the full volume field probe.

A method and apparatus for determining the flow rates of a multi-component fluid mixture is disclosed. The temperature and pressure of the multi-component mixture is determined. The fractions of the multi-component mixture are determined based on at least two measured physical properties of the mixture and knowledge of the same physical property of the individual components. The velocity of the multi component mixture is determined. The flow rate of the individual component of the fluid is determined. An electromagnetic measurement is performed. A statistical parameter related to the electromagnetic measurement is calculated and compared to an empirical derived threshold value corresponding to the value of the statistical parameter when only one of the components of the multi component mixture is present. The thickness of unwanted deposits on the pipe wall is determined and an improved flow rate determination of the individual components of the fluid is obtained.

Apparatus and method for accurately measuring flow of a multi-component mixture having scale buildup

A method for determining the flow rates of a fluid comprising a multi-component mixture of a gas and at least one liquid in a pipe, the method comprising the following steps: a. The temperature and pressure of the multi-component mixture is determined, b. the fractions of the multi-component mixture is determined based on at least two measured physical properties of the multi-components mixture and knowledge of the same physical property of the individual components of the multi-component mixture, c. the velocity of the multi component mixture is determined, d. based on the result from step a-c, the flow rate of the individual component of the fluid is determined, characterized by a method for determining the physical properties of at least one of the components of the multi-component mixture where e. an electromagnetic loss or phase measurement is performed, f. a statistical parameter related to the electromagnetic measurement is calculated, g. the said statistical parameter is compared to an empirical derived threshold value corresponding to the value of the statistical parameter when only one of the component of the multi component mixture is present, and h. the said physical properties of said fluid is determined if the statistical parameter exceeds the threshold value for the said component and used in step b-d to provide an improved value of the fractions, velocity and flow rate of the individual components of the multi-component mixture. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for wet gas flow measurements and measurement of gas properties

A method for determining the flow rates of a multi-component mixture in a pipe including a gas phase and a liquid phase comprising an emulsion of oil and water, the emulsion being either of the water continuous type or the oil continuous type, the method comprising the following steps: a. the flow rates of the individual components of the multi-component mixture are measured, b. the Reynolds number of the multi-component mixture is measured, c. the emulsion type of the liquid phase of the multi-component mixture is determined, and d. based on the results from steps b and c, a more accurate flow-rate of the individual components of the multi-component mixture and a fluid property of at least one of the components of the multi-component mixture are calculated. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for accurately measuring individual components of a multiphase fluid using separately measured reynolds number and emulsion type of liquid phase

A method for determining the flow rates of a multi-component mixture in a pipe including a gas phase and a liquid phase, the method comprising the following steps: a. the flow rates of the individual components of the multi-component mixture are measured, b. the Reynolds number of the multi-component mixture is measured separately from the flow rate measurements, and c. based on the result from step a and b, a more accurate flow-rate of the individual components of the multi-component mixture is calculated. A method for determining the flow rates of a fluid comprising a multi-component mixture of a gas and at least one liquid in a pipe, the method comprising the following steps: a. the permittivity of the multi-component mixture is determined based on an electromagnetic measurement, b. a statistical parameter related to the electromagnetic measurement is calculated, c. the density of the multi-component is determined, d. the temperature and pressure are obtained, e. based on the knowledge of densities and dielectric constants of the components of the fluid mixture, and the result from the above steps a-c, the water fraction of the multi-component mixture is calculated, characterized by a method for determining the liquid fraction and flow rates of the multi-component mixture where f. the liquid fraction is calculated based on the statistical parameter from step b and the calculated water fraction from step e using an empirical derived curve, g. the velocity of the multi-component mixture is derived, and h. based on the step a-g, the flow rate of the individual components of the multi-component mixture is calculated. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for measurement of composition and flow rates of a wet gas

A method for determining the water conductivity of a multi-component mixture of gas and at least one liquid containing water in a pipe, the method comprising the following steps: a. electromagnetic measurements at least two measurement frequencies are performed in a pipe near the pipe wall at a first cross-sectional location where the mixture predominantly contains gas and at a second cross-sectional location where the mixture predominantly contains liquid, b. the temperature of the multi-component mixture is determined, and c. based on an empirically determined relationship between the measurements performed is step a and b and the conductivity of pure water, the conductivity of the water contained in the multi-component mixture is determined. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for measuring the conductivity of the water fraction of a wet gas

A method for determining the water conductivity and water volume fraction of a multi-component mixture of water and at least one additional liquid or gas in a pipe, the method comprising the following steps: a. electromagnetic phase measurements at least two measurement frequencies are performed between two receiving antennas located at different distances from a sending antenna, b. based on empirically determined constant(s) and the above measurements, the real and imaginary dielectric constants are determined, c. the temperature and pressure are determined d. based on the knowledge of the real and imaginary dielectric constants of the components of the fluid mixture and the result from the above steps a-c, the conductivity of the water and/or the volume fraction of water are determined. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

A method for determining the composition and water salinity of a multi-component mixture of a gas and at least one liquid, including water, in a pipe (), the method comprising the following steps: a. electromagnetic phase measurements are performed between two receiving antennas () located at different distances from a sending antenna (), b. based on an empirically determined constant(s) and the above measurements, the effective and imaginary dielectric constants are determined, c. the mixture density is determined, d. the temperature and pressure are determined e. based on the knowledge of densities, effective dielectric constants and imaginary dielectric constants of the components of the fluid mixture and the results of the above steps a-d, the volume fractions of the gas and liquid or liquids of the fluid mixture and salinity of the water are calculated. Electromagnetic loss and phase measurements are performed in at least two directions of the pipe; the degree of annular flow is determined based on these measurements; the permittivity of the flow mixture is calculated, including corrections for the degree of annular flow; the mixture density is measured and compensated for the degree of annular flow; the temperature and pressure are obtained; the velocity of liquid and gas are determined, and based on the knowledge of densities and permittivities of the components of the fluid mixture, and the result from the above steps, the volume and mass flow rates of the gas and liquid(s) of the fluid mixture are calculated.
