An apparatus comprises a first sensor () and second sensor () arranged to determine a first and second set of properties for entities being devices or persons, the sets being determined in accordance with different sensor modalities. A first processor () determines directions between entities and a second processor () determines an orientation of an entity. A first detector () detects a bi-directional information exchange link between a first person and another entity out of a plurality of possible bi-directional information exchange links between entities in response to the directions and the at least one orientation. An initiator () initiates an action in response to the detection of the bi-directional information exchange link. The detection of the bi-directional information exchange link is in response to the first set of properties and the second set of properties.

Method and apparatus for initiating an action

A distribution system comprises an audio server () for receiving incoming audio from remote clients () and for transmitting audio derived from the incoming audio to the remote clients (). An audio apparatus comprises an audio a receiver () which receives data comprising: audio data for a plurality of audio components representing audio from a remote client of the plurality of remote clients; and proximity data for at least one of the audio components. The proximity data is indicative of proximity between remote clients. A generator () of the apparatus generates an audio mix from the audio components in response to the proximity data. An audio processing apparatus comprises a receiver () which receives audio data including audio components and render configuration data including audio transducer position data for a set of audio transducers (). A renderer () generating audio transducer signals for the set of audio transducers from the audio data. The renderer () is capable of rendering audio components in accordance with a plurality of rendering modes. A render controller () selects the rendering modes for the renderer () from the plurality of rendering modes based on the audio transducer position data. The renderer () can employ different rendering modes for different subsets of the set of audio transducers the render controller () can independently select rendering modes for each of the different subsets of the set of audio transducers (). The render controller () can select the rendering mode for a first audio transducer of the set of audio transducers () in response to a position of the first audio transducer relative to a predetermined position for the audio transducer. The approach may provide improved adaptation, e.g. to scenarios where most speakers are at desired positions whereas a subset deviate from the desired position(s).

Audio processing apparatus and method therefor

The present application relates to a system and a method for treating a part of a body to be treated, particularly a system and a method for cutting hair on a part of a body to be treated. The system has a hand-held treating device having a treating unit, and an imaging module configured to generate information indicative of the position of the treating device relative to the part of the body to be treated based on an image of a part of the body and the treating device. The system also has a guide face configured to space the treating unit from the part of the body to be treated during use of the system. A controller is configured to change a distance between the treating unit and the guide face in dependence on the information generated by the imaging module.

System and a method for treating a part of a body

A transmitting apparatus generates an audiovisual content item data stream (e.g. transport stream) comprising a plurality of individual audiovisual data streams with audiovisual components for the content item. A generator (-) generates a first stream comprising both mandatory audio data and replaceable audio data for the audio representation where the replaceable audio data being data can be replaced by alternative audio data. A combiner () includes the resulting stream into the content item data stream. A receiving apparatus includes an extractor () which extracts the mandatory audio data from the received stream. A replacer () may replace the replaceable audio data by alternative audio data and an output () can generate an audio signal from the mandatory and alternative audio data. The approach may specifically provide an improved and more flexible data stream for audiovisual content.

Audiovisual content item data streams

An audio encoder comprises a multi-channel receiver which receives an M-channel audio signal where M&#x3e;2. A down-mix processor down-mixes the M-channel audio signal to a first stereo signal and associated parametric data and a spatial processor modifies the first stereo signal to generate a second stereo signal in response to the associated parametric data and spatial parameter data for a binaural perceptual transfer function, such as a Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF). The second stereo signal is a binaural signal and may specifically be a (3D) virtual spatial signal. An output data stream comprising the encoded data and the associated parametric data is generated by an encode processor and an output processor. The HRTF processing may allow the generation of a (3D) virtual spatial signal by conventional stereo decoders. A multi-channel decoder may reverse the process of the spatial processor to generate an improved quality multi-channel signal.

An audio processing apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive audio data including audio components and render configuration data including audio transducer position data for a set of audio transducers. A renderer is configured to generate audio transducer signals for the set of audio transducers from the audio data, and to render audio components in accordance with rendering modes. A render controller is configured to select a rendering mode for the renderer based on the audio transducer position data. The renderer is configured to employ different rendering modes for different subsets of the set of audio transducers and the render controller is configured to independently select rendering modes for each of the different subsets of the set of audio transducer including selecting the rendering mode for a first audio transducer in response to a position of the first audio transducer relative to a predetermined position for the first audio transducer.

A transmitting device comprises a binaural circuit () which provides a plurality of binaural rendering data sets, each binaural rendering data set comprising data representing parameters for a virtual position binaural rendering. Specifically, head related binaural transfer function data may be included in the data sets. A representation circuit () provides a representation indication for each of the data sets. The representation indication for a data set is indicative of the representation used by the data set. An output circuit () generates a bitstream comprising the data sets and the representation indications. The bitstream is received by a receiver () in a receiving device. A selector () selects a selected binaural rendering data set based on the representation indications and a capability of the apparatus, and an audio processor () processes the audio signal in response to data of the selected binaural rendering data set.
