An endoprosthesis for replacing the ankle joint includes a lower component which is configured to be connected to the ankle bone, an upper component which is configured to be connected to the shin bone, and an intermediate part which forms a slide joint both with the lower and upper components. The intermediate part, which is wedge-shaped in sagittal section, is provided in order to compensate for anatomical or surgical irregularities. The upper component can also be wedge-shaped in frontal or sagittal section.

Ankle-joint endoprosthesis

The invention relates to a joint prosthesis having a shaft made from a titanium alloy, in which at least the shaft is investment cast and has a body-centered cubic crystal structure. A titanium alloy having this crystal structure (known as &#x3b2;-titanium alloy) has an advantageously low modulus of elasticity which is well matched to the physiological demands of joint prostheses. Furthermore, implementation as a shaped casting allows a complex shape to be achieved. It is particularly embodied as a femoral prosthesis for an artificial hip joint, which has an elongate shaft with grooves and sawtooth-like projections for bone anchoring.

Joint prosthesis made from a titanium alloy

A finger joint prosthesis is provided including a joint body having first and second joint elements, which are connected together pivotably about a rotary axis and from each of which extends an anchoring bar for fixing to a proximal and/or distal phalanx. The anchoring bars have eyes with openings for receiving fixing screws. To increase stability, it is proposed that the first joint element have an external hollow body with an insertion opening, that the second joint element have an internal hollow body, and that the internal hollow body in the position of installation can be inserted by way of the insertion opening relatively movably into the external hollow body. A spindle can be inserted in the position of installation into the internal hollow body for rotationally movable connection to the external hollow body.

Finger joint prosthesis

A bone spreader includes two tubular pin holders which are connected to one another by a parallel guide system, and two pins that are configured to be connected to the bone parts that are to be spread apart. In order to give the bone parts that are to be spread apart a more secure position in relation to one another, at least one of the pin holders is provided with a locking device for a pin located in the pin holder. This locking device includes a locking finger which is movable tangentially with respect to the pin holder and which, in the locking position, engages in a transverse groove of the associated pin and can be formed by a pivotably mounted hook.

Bone separator

An intervertebral prosthesis, in particular for the cervical spine, has two attachment plates connected in an articulated manner. The attachment surfaces of the attachment plates, which are configured for attachment to adjacent vertebral bodies have a base surface configured to bear on the surface of the vertebral bodies, and self-tapping fixing projections rising from the base surface. These fixing projections are formed by at least one pair of ribs which extend in opposite directions obliquely with respect to a predetermined implantation direction and whose side faces oriented more away from the implantation direction are steeper than their side faces oriented more in the implantation direction. The ribs can be toothed.

Intervertebral prosthesis with self-tapping fixing projections

An intervertebral disc prosthesis having two cover plates and a prosthesis core that extends to the circumferential edge of the cover plates. The prosthesis core is mounted to the lower cover plate and forms a spherical sliding surface with the upper cover plate. The connection surface of the cover plates may be set back from the circumferential perimeter of the cover plates to provide an optimum size of the spherical sliding surface despite the set-back nature of the connection surface. The set-back is configured as an inclined transition surface that adjoins the connection surface to the circumferential edge. The set-back allows the intervertebral disc prosthesis to be fully inserted into the prepared disc space into the spared dorsolateral corners without protruding ventrally.

Cervical intervertebral prosthesis

A prosthesis for partial replacement of a vertebral body includes upper and lower contact plates that contact upper and lower vertebral bodies and a bridging element to be inserted into a bone cavity that bridges an intermediate vertebral body to be replaced that lies between the upper and lower vertebral bodies. The bridging element has anchoring projections which can be moved between a retracted implantation position and a protruding anchoring position.

Prosthesis for partial replacement of a vertebral body

An insertion instrument comprising an elongate shaft, a suction head provided at the front end thereof for connection to a joint socket, a suction device with a piston guided in the shaft, a suction line opening out at the suction head, and an actuating element which is guided along a guiding track on the shaft. The guiding track can be helically shaped and have a locking arrangement, preferably in the form of a recess, for the actuating element in a suction position. Due to the helical shape of the guiding track, the actuating element executes a rotational and longitudinal movement during its displacement. The longitudinal movement produces a negative pressure in the suction line ensuring maintenance of the pressure, while the rotating movement causes rotation of the actuating element such that it reaches its locking position at the end of the guiding track, providing simplified handling of the instrument.

Insertion instrument for joint sockets of prostheses

System of intervertebral disc prostheses which includes standard prostheses and corrective prostheses. The corrective prostheses serve to compensate for a ventro-dorsal offset. They are characterized in that, on one of their cover plates, the surface via which it cooperates in a matching manner with the prosthesis core is offset ventrodorsally relative to the contact surface by comparison with the standard prostheses.

System for intervertebral disk prostheses

A prosthesis for the partial replacement of a vertebral body includes an upper contact plate for connection to an upper vertebral body, a lower contact plate for connection to a lower vertebral body and a bridging part which connects the upper and lower contact plates to one another and bridges at least one intermediate vertebral body which is located between the upper and lower vertebral bodies and is to be partially replaced. The bridging part is accommodated in a recess in the vertebral body and is secured in the recess with lateral anchoring projections which penetrate into the bone substance located on both sides of the bridging part. The cross section of the bridging part may narrow toward the rear, preferably in a trapezoid shape.

Prosthesis for bridging a vertebral body

The invention relates to an insertion instrument for an endoprosthesis (), which comprises a neck part () and a shaft part () which is to be inserted into a medullary cavity, comprising a clamping device () which is provided with a holding fork () and a thrust bearing (), which are embodied in such a manner that the endoprosthesis () is held fixedly in a clamped state and is released in an unclamped state, in addition to a striker device (). The aim of the invention is to simplify the safe and precise insertion thereof such that a guide rail () for a striker element is arranged in a fixed manner on the clamping device () and is oriented in such a manner that a path, which is determined by the guide rail, leads to an end face of the endoprosthesis () which is held in the clamping device ().

Insertion instrument for an endoprosthesis comprising a prosthesis shaft which is to be inserted into a medullary cavity

A cervical intervertebral disk prosthesis has two cover plates, at least one of which is provided with a wedge-shaped connection surface for connection to a vertebral body and which is wider than it is deep. The dorsal edge of the connection surface may be set back from the dorsolateral edge of the cover plate having the connection surface and be connected to the dorsal edge protruding above it via a rounding or bevel.

Method for implanting an intervertebral disk prosthesis

A cervical intervertebral prosthesis includes two connection plates adapted for connection to adjacent vertebral bodies and a hinge core. The hinge core and one connection plate together form a hinge with a concave hinge surface on the hinge core and with a complementary convex hinge surface on the connection plate. The hinge core bears on the other connection plate via a slide surface which extends substantially parallel to the direction of the connection plate and which permits a relative movement in this direction and is surrounded by an edge limiting this relative movement. The concave hinge surface encloses the convex hinge surface within a solid angle of at least 90&#xb0;. The part of the concave hinge surface lying within this solid angle lies inside the recess surrounded by the edge. The stability of the prosthesis with respect to laterally incident forces is thereby increased.
