A closure device for a container neck having a cap which is pivotable between closed open configurations, comprising: a base; an outer wall extending circumferentially around the base; a plug seal extending from the base, at an inner face of the cap, and spaced from the outer wall to define a channel for receiving the container neck and for forming a seal against an inner wall of the container neck when the cap is in the closed configuration; a lifting member extending from the base and positioned radially inwardly from the plug seal, the lifting member being positioned at a pivot-side of the cap and having a contact face at a free end of the lifting member for contacting a top end of the container neck before the top end contacts the plug seal during actuation of the cap from the open configuration to the closed configuration.

Closure device for a container

A closure may have a top wall and a side wall depending from the top wall. A plug seal device may depend from said top wall within the side wall. The plug seal device may have an upper section, a lower section, and a sealing section proximate the boundary between the upper section and the lower section. The sealing section is operable such that when the plug seal device is inserted in an opening to an inner cavity in a container, the sealing section engages with an inner container surface to provide a seal between an inner cavity of the container and the external environment.

Containers and closures

In one embodiment, a gate insert includes an injection gate body having front and rear opposite sides and an aperture extending through the injection gate body between an injection gate outlet on the front side and an opening on the rear side. The injection gate body is connectable to and disconnectable from a gate pad in a cavity plate from a front side of the gate pad and from a front side of the cavity plate. In another embodiment, a cavity flange includes a molding body defining at least a portion of a molding cavity shaped to mold a shell of a closure for a container. The molding body is connectable to and disconnectable from a gate insert in a cavity plate from a front side of the gate insert and from a front side of the cavity plate. Other apparatuses are disclosed.

Injection molding apparatuses

A mold stack for a mold comprises a mold core configured for reception in a mold cavity plate with an outer molding surface. The mold core comprises an inner core with a first tapered guide surface and an outer core with a second tapered guide surface. The inner core is received through a passage in the outer core. A spacer slidably supports the outer core on the inner core. The outer core is movable relative to the inner core between a molding position in which the inner and outer cores define a mold cavity with the outer molding surface, and an open position in which the outer core is extended relative to the inner core. In the molding position, the first and second tapered guide surfaces engage one another to align the inner and outer cores.

Mold stack for injection molding machine

The invention pertains to an injection molding machine comprising, an injection nozzle () having a melt channel (), an injection opening (), and a filter () for filtering the molten resin within the injection nozzle (). According to the invention, the melt filter () cooperates with the 5 melt channel () or a means () provided within the melt channel () in such a way, that during an injection phase of the injection molding machine, the molten resin is caused to pass through the filter (), and during a decompression phase of the injection molding machine the molten resin is caused to bypass the filter ().

A non-limiting embodiment of the conversion structure includes a standard mold receiver () and a mold conversion module (A,B,C,A,B,C,D,E,F,A,B,C,A,B,C). The standard mold receiver () and the mold conversion module (A,B,C,A,B,C,D,E,F,A,B,C,A,B,C) are configured to cooperate, wherein the mold conversion module (A,B,C,A,B,C,D,E,F,A,B,C,A,B,C) is receivable in the standard mold receiver () for converting a molding configuration of a mold ().

Conversion structure for a molding system

Disclosed herein, amongst other things is a first stack portion () of a mold stack () for use in an injection mold (). The first stack portion () includes a first stack member that is configured to define a molding cavity () in cooperation with a second stack portion () of the mold stack (), a second stack member that is movable relative to the first stack member, and an air valve () is defined between the first stack member and the second stack member, the air valve () being selectively actuatable with relative movement of the first stack member and the second stack member.

A molding machine comprises a machine ejection assembly and an auxiliary ejection assistant assembly coupled to the machine ejection assembly, wherein the auxiliary assistant assembly is used to generate an additional ejecting force.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a tonnage regulating structure and a mold incorporating same. For example, a tonnage regulating structure () for use in a mold () of a molding machine, the mold () being associated with an opening clearance () between mold faces in a mold closed and clamped configuration, is provided. The tonnage regulating structure () comprises a body () having a first height () in a resting configuration, the first height () selected to be larger than the opening clearance () between the mold faces in a mold closed and clamped configuration; the body () including a compensating structure (), the compensating structure () for regulating, in use under applied clamp tonnage, the body () to a second height (), the second height () being smaller than the first height ().

According to embodiments of the present invention, there is provided a split mold insert for a molding system. A first split mold insert complementary to a second split mold insert, the first and second split mold inserts configured, in use, to form a neck region of a preform capable of being blow-molded. The first split mold insert comprises a top portion and a bottom portion; the top portion for abutting, in use, a cavity plate assembly and the bottom portion being at an opposite extreme relative to the top portion; a back portion and a face portion opposite each other, extending between the top and bottom portions, the face portion defining a molding surface defining portion for forming, in use, at least a portion of the neck region of the preform; the back portion comprising a connecting interface for connecting, in use, to a slide bar.

There is disclosed a mold insert stack for use in an injection mold and a coupler thereof. The mold insert stack for use in an injection mold is provided and comprises a core assembly that includes: a core insert that includes: a core body; an inner molding surface that is defined on the core body, the inner molding surface provides, in use, an inner portion of a molding cavity that is shaped to mold a preform; a core-coupler interface that is defined on the core body; a support member that includes: a support body; a support-sliding interface that is defined on the support body; a coupler member that includes: a coupler body; a coupler-core interface that is defined on the coupler body; a coupler-insert interface that is defined on the coupler body; and a complementary sliding interface that is defined on at least one of the coupler body and the core body; the coupler-core interface and the core-coupler interface being configured to cooperate, in use, to mutually locate the coupler body with the core body; the coupler-insert interface being configured to cooperate, in use, with a complementary interface defined on a further mold insert; the support-sliding interface and the complementary sliding interface being configured to cooperate, in use, to establish a slidable coupling that is able to accommodate, in use, a lateral move (S) between the support-sliding interface and the complementary sliding interface and connect a load path between the support body with at least one of the core body with the coupler body.

The split mold insert for defining, at least partially, a neck area of a preform suitable for blow molding into a final-shaped article, in particular, is provided. The split mold insert comprises a body having (i) a cavity defining portion for defining, in use, a portion of the neck area and (ii) a top projecting portion and a bottom projecting portion located at opposite sides of the body; a first female taper portion associated with the top projecting portion; a second female taper portion associated with the bottom projecting portion; the first female taper portion and the second female taper portion for cooperating, in use, with a first male taper of a first mold component and a second male taper of a second mold component, respectively, for aligning the body into an operational configuration.
