The present invention relates to a cooling system and method for regulating environmental conditions of a racked server unit having a plurality of server modules. The system comprises of an inlet line connected to a plurality of circulation conduits, wherein the plurality of circulation conduits receive a cooling medium from the inlet line, and the circulation conduits circulates the cooling medium through the racked server unit. A plurality of cold plates are positioned within the racked server unit, wherein one or more of the plurality of cold plates are thermally coupled to each of the plurality of server modules, and the plurality of cold plates are connected to one or more of the plurality of circulation conduits. An outlet line is connected to the plurality of circulation conduits, wherein the outlet line receives the cooling medium circulated through the racked server unit from the plurality of circulation conduits. A heat exchanger comprising a hot plate element, a cold plate element, and a thermo-osmotic membrane positioned between the hot plate element and the cold plate element, wherein the outlet line transfers the cooling medium circulated through the racked server unit to the hot plate element and the temperature of the cooling medium facing the hot plate element is regulated by transfer of heat from the cooling medium facing the hot plate element through the thereto-osmotic membrane to the hot plate element.

Systems and methods for cooling server modules

Embodiments disclosed include a heat exchange apparatus and method comprising, in an electronic device, a first heat exchanger for exchanging heat with the device wherein the heat exchanger comprises a flow duct for receiving a fluid, and at least a portion of the flow duct is arranged for thermal communication with the device. Preferred embodiments include a pressure reducing unit comprising a pump associated with the flow duct and a Venturi tube configured for reducing the pressure of the fluid in the portion of the flow duct arranged in thermal communication with the device and less than the pressure external to the duct. An embodiment includes a fluid reservoir, and a second heat exchanger for removing heat from the fluid reservoir wherein the second heat exchanger comprises an evaporator in a refrigerant system through which refrigerant is passed in a closed loop via an expansion valve from a gas cooler and back into a compressor.

According to an embodiment, the control via the compute, power, and facilities module comprises calibrating the compute, power, and facility systems based on an estimated compute requirement, and an associated power, cooling, and network data resource requirement. The thermal containment system generally includes an enclosure, a vertical enclosure, a cable management system, integrated cooling unit, a plurality of quick connect couples for the cooling unit, a plurality of VFD fans, a plurality of recessed wheels, a plurality of wireless sensors and a quick lock system for securing the thermal containment system. The thermal containment system may be employed to control air flow in the data center, isolating hot air expelled by a plurality of computer systems therein and conditioning the hot air with integrated cooling units that may be connected to a closed loop geothermal cooling system.
