A front end of a motor vehicle, e.g., a passenger vehicle, having two longitudinal members, extending essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and an integral member on which a drive unit of the motor vehicle is mounted. The integral member has, on each side of the vehicle, a base member which extends essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is fastened in each case by a front supporting pillar and by a rear supporting pillar to one of the longitudinal members. Each longitudinal member being of deformable configuration in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle at least between the supporting pillars. In order to improve the deformation behavior of the front end, each base member is fastened exclusively via its front supporting pillar and its rear supporting pillar at the bottom to associated longitudinal members. Each base member is configured such that it has greater stiffness in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle than the respectively associated longitudinal member. The supporting pillars are configured and connected to the associated longitudinal member and/or to the associated base member such that they pivot about pivot axes extending essentially transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, during a relative displacement between the base member and longitudinal member in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

Front end of a motor vehicle

A servo control has an electromechanical or electrohydraulic support of setting strokes of a handle. A constantly running electric motor is coupled to a control member of the servo control by power flux which can be controlled by the handle. By way of an electronic load recognition, the load which is variable in dependence on the power flux and against which the electric motor has to operate is utilized to control the output of the electric motor. That is, the electric motor is switched to greatly increased output in the case of increased load.

Power steering system/servo control

A rack-and-pinion steering or control system with a servomotor, especially an electric motor, which can be coupled to the rack by way of a mechanical transmission and runs continuously in one direction is provided. The rack is designed over a certain area as a screw which interacts with a recirculating ball sleeve which can be driven in two directions of rotation by the motor. To control the direction of rotation, use is made of normally disengaged clutches which can be controlled as a function of a small displacement of the recirculating ball sleeve.

Servomotor assisted rack-and-pinion steering or control system

The invention relates to a servo-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system having a helical-toothed rack and an axially movable pinion which interacts therewith and the axial movement of which controls the servomotor. The pinion is mounted on an input shaft in such a manner as to be incapable of rotation with respect to the shaft but axially movable thereon, in order to suppress the transmission of axial forces between the input shaft and the pinion.

Servo-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system

A servo-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system in which the rack is drive-coupled to a pinion which is mounted to move between two end positions in the longitudinal direction of the rack so that its movements control the servo motor. The end positions of the pinion are defined by two friction wheels which are driven continuously in opposite directions by the servo motor, in each case allowing an auxiliary force to be transmitted to the pinion.

Servo-assisted rack-and-pinion system

A servo-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system is provided in which the rack cooperates with a rotatable pinion. The pinion is supported in an eccentrically located opening in a circular disk rotatably mounted by rolling elements on its periphery. Pivoting movement of the pinion controls an hydraulic oil actuated servo motor. The rolling contact bearing of the disk lies in the path of flow of the hydraulic oil for the servo motor. The pinion is supported in a bearing in the opening in the disk and another bearing at an opposite side of the rack and separate from the disk.

A servo-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system includes a rack which cooperates with a pinion which is capable of limited movement transversely or, in particular, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rack. The movements actuate the servomotor or its control elements.

A servo valve arrangement with a high-pressure, low-pressure and motor connection and with a pressure control valve arranged between the high-pressure connection and motor connection and a return control valve arranged between the motor connection and low-pressure connection is provided. The pressure control valve normally is closed and the return control valve normally is open. The pressure control valve can be opened by a common actuating member whilst closing the return control valve. The valve arrangement is suitable, in particular, for hydraulic power steering systems of motor vehicles with a so-called closed center.

Servo valve arrangement

The invention relates to a vane pump, the volumetric delivery of which can be regulated by varying the axial width of the pump working chambers. The vanes are carried in an axially fixedly disposed vane-carrier which rotates with the rotor. An axial slide engages axial ends of the respective individual vanes to axially movably adjust the vanes and therewith the axial length of the pump working chambers.

The invention relates to a servo control, especially a power steering for motor vehicles, with a fluidic reaction control which is designed in the manner of a rotary slide and which constitutes a component which can fundamentally be separated from a servo-valve arrangement.

Servo control, especially power steering for motor vehicles

A servo control is disclosed especially for a power steering for motor vehicles. A shaft serves as an actuating member and is subdivided axially into a primary shaft and a secondary shaft. The two shaft parts are coupled elastically to one another via a torsion bar and a prestressed leg spring acting parallel thereto. Accordingly, a relative rotation adjusting a servo-valve arrangement can occur between the two shaft parts only when the shaft is loaded by a torque which exceeds the prestress of the leg spring.

Power steering servo control for motor vehicles

In a servo-valve arrangement, a control piston is displaced as a function of steering forces to be applied which control piston in its turn controls throttling places in such a manner that a piston-cylinder aggregate is acted upon with a pressure difference and produces a force assisting the steering movement. A throttling section connected in parallel with the piston cylinder aggregate includes throttling places controlled by external parameters as well as by the system pressure and makes it possible to act upon the end faces of the control piston with a pressure difference in order to permit a force opposing the respective displacement of the control piston to act on the control piston. As a result thereof, an undesired overcontrol of the servo-valve arrangement, respectively, of the steering system controlled thereby is avoided.

Servo-valve arrangement for power steering

A power steering system operates with a servo-valve, which responds to the wheel angle of a hand steering wheel, for the operating pressure of a steering system servo-motor and with a modulating valve operating as a function of at least one parameter, in particular the travelling speed. The modulating valve produces a reaction pressure dependent on the parameters by reducing an output pressure derived from the operating pressure. A reaction pressure due to the action on a reaction pressure surface embodied at the valve setting element of the control valve and located in a rection pressure chamber can be felt exclusively, as pressure-dependent feedback, at the hand steering wheel, because the reaction pressure chamber is connected to an operating pressure chamber of the steering system servo-motor and the operating pressure chamber via an associated valve connection of the control valve to an operating pressure source, and, at the same time, the modulating valve is inserted, in series with at least one throttle, between the operating pressure source on one side and a pressure medium return, substantially relieved of pressure, on the other side. The reaction pressure chambers, each connected on one side to an operating pressure chamber, are connected to one another on the other side via a short-circuit pressure connection. To avoid quantities of leakage oil via the modulating valve during relatively low travelling speeds, the short-circuit pressure connection contains a throttle in series with the modulating valve. The modulating valve is inserted in the pressure connection between one reaction pressure chamber and the associated operating pressure chamber. At low travelling speeds, the modulating valve blocks the pressure connection.
